Mummy & Granny Birthday Cards: Two Cards, Two Styles

Im popping in to share two cards i made last month for my mummsy’s birthday. First i made a card from Piper with this cute hedgehog stamp from Penny Black. In the photos the brown looks really dark compared to the rest of the card, but the contrast wasn’t so immense in real life.

This card was a little more flowery that I’m used to, but it was fun to play with a different style for a bit. I just love adding lots of texture with lace and embossing folders and punch out butterflies.

For the other card which was from me and hubby, I decided to use some supplies which i had left over from a recent commission for The Scrapbook Magazine. The colours were browns and greys and blues and creams – and they worked beautifully together. Heres what i came up with:

I loved adding the machine stitching along the hearts. The yellow gives a real pop of colour and once again the sewing adds yummy scrummy texture. Couldn’t resist a few adhesive pearls as well.

I found a little piece of stuff in the craft room that was a bit like cork board. I think it was compressed tree pulp or something random like that. I used my scissors to cut out a M shape and adhered this to the bottom of the card to create a ‘Mummy’ greeting.

And yes, i do still call my mother Mummy! so what?!

Hello there! I love these two cards but especially the pink and lacey one. How did you make the lace?

    Blessings,
    Stephanie

HI stephanie. The lacy circles are actually paper doilies which i bought at http://www.theribbonreel.co.uk . i cut the outer edge of one of them and layered them up on top of each other. The horizontal lacey bits are also layered materials, first a jute grid material then some lace trimmings and flower trimmings.
thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment
