Our First Car – Scrapbook Layout

Hey there everyone,

Another layout to share today.

This time i got my fingers messy as I played with some Cosmic Shimmers sprays! FUN FUN FUN!

I thought it was about time I scrapped about our first car. Most people probably dream about getting their first car when they are about 16 -17 years old, but no, not me. I never actually got off my butt to even start to learn to drive until this year! Whoops, i’m ten years behind the game! Meh, i don’t care!

Even though I was 27, not 17, it was still just as exciting when we went to go car shopping! I was like a big kid, almost hyperventilating at the fact that we were going to bring home our first car. Eeeek!!

No more walking into town in the thundering rain!
No more bored days at home.
No more going into Guildford because it was something to do – now we can go anywhere we want. See new places, have new adventures, picnics, forest walks, drive to the airport!!! AwESoMe!!

And so we picked one. A little Renault Clio. And I love it! I’m sure it will get plenty of scrapes and bumps and bruises, but it’ll always be our first car!

So this layout isn’t one of my clean and simple layouts, but is a bit more carefree. I just had fun when I was making it!

Journaling reads:
It was so exciting going & looking at cars. We picked out a few that ticked the boxes & began to narrow down the choices. Can you believe the best one was teal – my favourite colour!! When we saw the number plate, it sealed the deal. A little Scottish Clio – the perfect choice! Proud as punch, I insisted that you took a photo of this momentous day – of me and our new car!

Summer Lovin’- Anniversary Card Tutorial (Video)

Hey everyone, and happy Monday!

I’m mixing it up a little today!! It is of course time for another Miss You Monday card, but as I had issues with YouTube at the weekend, I wasn’t able to post the video i promised. So i’ve decided to post the video this morning for your enjoyment, and later this evening I’ll post this weeks MYM card. WOW, double the fun today, huh?! ♥

This card sums up my mood at the moment! SUMMERTIME!! I’ve had a fantastic weekend, chillin with friends, and between BBQs and beach visits, I am definitely feeling like Summer has finally arrived [♥]. I even have a little bit of colour in my cheeks – although i must say that the ‘red face / white eyes’ look is making me reconsider wearing sunglasses on those bright, sunny days! I look like a weird panda! LOL

The main inspiration for this project was these cool chipboard shapes from Bisous! I totally love the wide variety of cool shapes, the colour combos and the fact that they are really adhesive. I also love the fact that they are self contained on a sheet, rather than in a bag or box that you need to turf out just to see all the remaining shapes. With them all on this fold out sheet, it is soooo very easy to find the exact ones to use. This set is from the ‘hot’ collection, and have bright, bold colours, and I was eager to couple these with a recently purchased cloud stamp from heroarts. And i just ♥ the result!

Thanks for popping by, and come back later to see the MYM card! Enjoy the video! Leave a comment here.

Feeling Inspired…

A layout inspired by Lyon, by life, by love and by Leslie.

This photo was taken as we walked through the tree lined paths of the magical ‘Parc de la tete d’or’ during our holiday in Lyon a few weeks back. It was a blistering 38 degrees, the air was heavy, and we could hardly walk for five minutes without swigging from the water bottle. We found a quiet spot, sat on a bench and looked over the tranquil lake. All I could think was “I guess what they say is true: la vie est belle“.

On the second day of our holiday, we were followed up the street by two teenagers who could have easily won the award for the worlds worst thieves. They were obviously eyeing up my DSLR, and my pale skin made me easily identifiable as a visitor to the country. It was comical really as they desperately lacked subtlety, but it took a while for us to lose them which was an annoyance. From then on out, most of the holiday was spent clutching desperately to my camera bag.

But as we sat overlooking the still water at the Park, we were alone, and despite being in the middle of a busy city, the park was so huge that it felt like we were in the secluded countryside. We took out the camera and had some photo-fun.

Reviewing the photographs got me thinking….

I’m lucky that i have a wonderful husband who loves me and who makes me laugh. Who gives me confidence and also brings me down to earth when needed. Who puts up with my crafty obsession and who makes me feel like its okay to be crazy sometimes. It may sound cheesy but I just love it when we are together.

And so it was these thoughts of a crazy wife that led to the creation of this layout – that coupled with the inspiration of a talented lady; Leslie Ashe. Last week I shared one of her projects with you, this wonderful inchie canvas:

…..Photo removed for publication……………

Isn’t it awesome? I loved the way that Leslie used circles as a design feature, and the colours were so vibrant and beautiful. Her fabulous project, mixed with the excitement due to the arrival of my circle nestabilities from Spellbinders, inspired me to create a fun layout which incorporated circles.

It was so much fun to make, and I got to use up a lot of papers from my scrap stash, which is always a plus.

Two more things to share:

Firstly, the black circle with the colourful blocks on it was actually cut from a tag that came from one of Craig’s t-shirts. I always save tags from clothing and I know i’m not the only one. Check out these tips about using tags and adverts on layouts from Noell over at Paperclipping: Episode 117: Using Ads & Tags

Secondly, may i extend my thanks to my kitty Miya for ‘helping’ with this layout by chewing the top left corner. It’s okay, i just ran with the grungy feel….

Thanks for looking and please leave me a comment here.
