'Beautiful Blue Eyed Girl' Scrapbook Layout

Time to share another layout made from my awesome stash of Bisous papers. Earlier this year, my sister Lindsey, Niece Abbi, Nephew Luke and my mummy all came over to visit for a long weekend. It was great fun, especially being able to hang out with the kids and show them all the things to do over here where we live. My sis on the other hand was only really interested in shopping – but I wouldn’t expect anything less anyway!

I am so glad that I took my DSLR with me on our trips, as I managed to take some really nice candid photos of our days out, and my favourite is this one. From the front passenger seat I turned quickly with the camera and clicked the button, and I managed to catch a precious glance of love shared between a mother and daughter.

For this layout I used my Heidi Swapp Butterfly mask for the first time. I love this mask. I stuck it to the paper and with a foam mat underneath, I used a paper piercer to prick holes using the mask as a guide. Then after removing the mask, I hand stitched the outline of the shape with blue thread. It was subtle and beautiful, but in this particular layout I decided that I needed more colour to balance out the title area and embellishment crescendo on the left hand side of the photo. So using my mask again I drew around the butterfly shapes and cut them out from different coloured pattern paper and layered these to create dimension and interest.

I love the finished layout, as the various tones of blue contrast against the white to give a crisp look, and the stitching and butterflies add a touch of soft elegance.
