Happy Monday everybody! And its time for another Miss You Monday card.
My Unity Stamps June Kit of the Month arrived last week, and I was so excited to start playing with them. There are so many really cool, versatile stamps this month. Check them out:
My favourites are: the flying bird, the owls, the large arc stamp and the ‘today’ stamp. They are yummy scrummy.
So lets talk about todays card.
I started by making a coloured wash background. To do this, simply tap the distress ink pads onto a craft sheet and then spritz with water. When you lay the card on top, the ink and the water transfer over to the card, creating a nice watercolour effect. I did this once with ‘tumbled glass‘ distress ink, then I used some ‘stormy sky‘ colour and tapped the edge onto the craft sheet, creating an asterix shape, misted with water and laid my card on top of it again. This gives the great dark blue definition in the sky.
Next I stamped the horizon stamp onto the card and then before cleaning the stamp, i pressed the image into a post it note. I did this to create a mask so that I could ink the ground in ‘shabby shutters‘ green. I also used the arcs stamp from the kit above to add some detail. I think it kinda looks like pattern paper – don’t you?!
The clouds are coloured using a white opaque pen from the Inkssentials line form Ranger. I’ve tried a couple of white pens over the years, and I think this one is by far the best.
I had some pre-stamped card left over from an earlier project, which I used to create a sun, by simply punching a circle using a paper punch. The design is a stamp from Heroarts and the ink is ‘mustard seed‘ distress ink. {No surprise there, I’m a distress ink junkie!}
The background for the card – of course, its that raindrop stamp from Heroarts again. You must think i’d addicted to that stamp …(you’d kinda be right!)
I didn’t really have a vision for this card when I started out making it, it just came together of its own accord, but i really like it, and find it very optimistic – yes, optimistic is the right word! So here’s hoping it will have the desired effect when it reaches Sarah’s door all the way in Oregon.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful Monday.
