Personalising Store Bought Cakes With A Little Crafting {video}

Hey everyone… a bonus video to share with you today. And, for a change, it isn’t a card! ๐Ÿ™‚

Last year we ordered a fancy schmancy birthday cake for Piper’s birthday, and although it was pretty and delicious, it was rather pricey. This year, because i was doing waaaaaayy more planning for the party, i decided to simply pick up a store bought cake. After all, there was one that perfectly matched the colour scheme of the party ๐Ÿ™‚

but i wanted to spice it up a bit, so i got my crafty hat on and decided to make a personalised cake topper and a custom decorated birthday candle.

Both these items were a huge hit at the party, and the great thing is that they weren’t really difficult to make either! ๐Ÿ™‚

For the candle, it was all about glitter glue and buttons! YUMMY!

I even managed to pass the candle on to my friend Alexia for her daughter’s birthday cake the following week – why not, huh?!

And for the cake topper, i used some paper straws mixed with some crochet twine, and stamped some cute images from the SimonSaysStamp Mini Party Animals stamp set, coloured with copics.

Here’s a video tutorial, walking you through how i made these fun items, and below are a few more piccys of the projects and also some from the party.

A huge thank you to my friend Elizabeth for bringing her candle and taking some photos on the big day of the party. I was far to busy scurrying around with a microphone running party games, and making sure that DJ Craig was working hard, and interacting with parents and being chased by little munchkins! It was a great day, and i am very thankful that i have some photos of the occasion. Thanks Elizabeth! xx

Enjoy the video! Still another video this weekend as usual ๐Ÿ™‚
