Hello Crafty friends!
I hope you’ve had a fab week! Once again I had the pleasure of doing a YouTube LIVE video stream on Friday evening, and to celebrate my Chibitronics announcement last week, I incorporated a Chibitronics LED into my card. This project will also be shared in the Project gallery over on the Chibitronics website.
Along with the little light, I used some of these sweet bears from the Beary Special Birthday set from My Favorite Things. They are so adorable! One of the images is carrying a cake, so I thought that would work well for today’s light-up card.
At the top of this post is the full ‘Come Craft With Me’ video from the stream. In case you haven’t seen these before, these videos are in real time, and throughout the video I am interacting with the live viewers – so it is not a quick video. 🙂 If you can’t join me for the live stream, you can always put on the video in the background when you are crafting, or doing something else.
Lets take a look at the finished card!
I think he is so sweet! I used the stitched rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn along with the All Prettied Up die from Mama Elephant. To create the banner shape, I used some dies from the smartphone app WISH, and I layered some vellum behind them to help diffuse the light from the LED.
Here’s what it looks like when it’s all lit up!
YAY! Such fun! In the video I share some tips for creating Chibitronics cards- and I promise this is a basic, entry level circuit with no complicated nonsense. In fact, in the video, I also share lots of tips along the way. Hidden behind the SURPRISE message is the battery, which acts as a switch. Pressing down on this message will make the candles light up brightly!
I used my copic ciao markers to colour in the cute little bears – and in case you are wondering – the colours used are on the photo above. Aren’t those swatches AMAZING! Snow, a fellow crafter and awesome friend of mine, sent me some of these printed swatches, and I couldn’t wait to get them onto my markers! I think they look so awesome! Check out Snow’s work over on her instragram – @marblemine.
Whilst I was colouring one cute bear for the front, I decided to go ahead and colour another one for the inside at the same time. In the past I rarely ever designed the inside of my cards, but I do think it gives the card an extra special touch when the design is carried over to the interior.
So there we have it! I am hoping to have another ‘Come Craft With Me’ You Tube LIVE stream this Friday night, 19th May at 9PM GMT. I hope you can join me, and I often do a giveaway throughout the show as well.
See you soon!
Happy Crafting!
