Lotus Blossom In Luscious Lavender! ft Honey Bee Stamps

Happy Monday everyone!

I am kicking off the week with this luscious lavender card, that was inspired by fellow DT member Galina. She has made some gorgeous cards using the Lotus Blossom stamp – and this inspired me to add this stamp to my shopping card so i too could get to play with it!

I noticed that I had a piece of watercolour cardstock on my desk which already had a curved section cut into it. It was my original idea to stamp and die cut the flowers, so I grabbed this piece of card and started stamping. Of course, my original ideas don’t always transpire, and sometime new ideas form. As I was stamping and white heat embossing the blossoms, I decided to instead create a floral background.

Before stamping with versamark embossing ink, I prepped the surface with an anti-static powder tool. This meant that when i sprinkled my embossing powder over the top – the embossing powder ONLY stuck to the stamped lines. I used a post-it note to cut out three masks, which I was able to move around my card when I was overlapping the stamps.

Next I used my Kuretake Tambi Gansai watercolours to mix some purple tones in a palate. I used the wet-on-wet technique to achieve a soft watercolour finish. To do this, simply ‘paint’ the area with clean water first, then when the paper is still damp, drop in a little watercolour. I tried to concentrate the pigment towards the centre of the flower, or in areas that would naturally have a shadow.

I think it looks so fresh and beautiful! I added this panel to a purple card, along with some twine, and then added some dew drops. I had a little piece of purple cardstock left over after making the folded card base, so I white heat embossed the word ‘hello’ from the Hello Gorgeous stamp set, and used the coordinating die to cut this out before adding this to the card!

Thank you so much for stopping by

Happy Crafting!
