Baby ideas

Hello crafty friends, thanks for joining me today, when I am sharing a HungryHeffyCrafts doodle with you guys! A few months ago I drew a sketch of our team at work, and then a colleague asked me to paint something to go on baby Austin’s nursery wall.

I sketched around for ages and then ….totally forgot about it! WHOOOPSIE!

Finally this past weekend, I was reinvigorated to get the project finished. I am quite pleased with how it turned out! Apart from the fact that I am kicking myself about one thing….when I uploaded the photos to my computer I suddenly realised that there should not be an apostrophe! UGHHHHH! How irritating! This is why I shouldn’t spell at half past midnight!!

Anyway, I thought you might enjoy a few photos of the finished piece.

I used both my Koi watercolours and Winsor and Newton watercolour paints, first, and then used my spectrum noir colouring pencils to add detail and to outline the images.

So the whole family is Liz, Chris, Maggie, Monty and baby Austin! I swear I have stalked poor Liz’s Facebook photos so much in a bid to get the sketches just right! LOL

Thanks for stopping by! See you again soon!! 🙂

Hand lettering is very on trend right now, and I LOVE IT! I have been watching some videos from Kristina Werner (@starofmay on instagram) who has an amazing talent when it comes to wielding a brush – her hand lettering and calligraphy is so amazingly beautiful!

I have dabbled around with a brush and some watercolours, but i guess it takes lots of practise. Maybe i will keep trying. I seem to do a little better with a brush marker- so i decided to play around and add some hand lettering to this baby card that i was making.

I wanted to keep the baby card to neutral, muted tones so used grey ink for the most of the design. The bunny is from the Mama Elephant Up and Away stamp set, and the text stamps are from Hero Arts and Personal Impressions. I coloured the bunny using copic markers and added a touch of sparkle with some clear wink of steel brush pen.

I had some real problems trying to find a pink ink in my stash that was ‘jussstt right’, but had to make do with a light pink that is really hard to see on the video. sorry about that. i have just placed an order for some Ranger Dye Pink gum ball ink – hopefully that will fill the pink void in my collection 🙂

Here is the video – check it out! Have a great day!

Hey there y’all!

I shared a sneak peek of this card on instagram and was amazed by the number of likes that people gave it – thank you so much for the love! Sorry its taken a while for the video to be finished- but here it is!

Of course i am using Mama Elephant up and away stamp and die sets, as well as my Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle dies, as well as the spring showers die set. The background is stamped and inked – but you can see the whole process in the video.

Enjoy the video, and if you have a moment, and like what you have seen, please hit the thumbs up button!

Here are some more photos too:

have a great day!
