Baby ideas

Hi there,

We have had an influx of babies recently in my circle of friends, via work, nursery and all sorts. I kinda like it, because i always find baby cards super fun to make!

I made a card for baby Hugo and then realised that i didn’t have the video camera running, so i made another girl version of the card on tape so i could share it with you guys. Good job i did, because not long afterwards my work colleague Jennifer had a beautiful baby girl! Congratulations on your new bundles of fun!

For todays card i used some Lawn Fawn and paper smooches dies, some echo park paper, and a mix and match of stamp images. I hope you enjoy the video.

Thanks for stopping by. I’m off to make some more baby cards for baby Charlie and Felicity. These tiny humans are everywhere!! 🙂

I think baby cards are the most exciting to make! Probably because of the excitement that a newborn brings I guess. Todays card is one that I made (a little while back admittedly) for my cousin Hayley when she had her daughter Ella. When you know about the craft industry its pretty hard to hear the name Ella without thinking immediately about Ella Publishing, and seeing that sweet elephant logo in your mind. So, without really thinking about it, I reached for one of my favourite stamp sets… the Elephants one from Hero Arts.

This is by far my favourite stamp for baby cards- gender neutral and so easy to cut out. I stamped onto pink card and cut out. For his ear I put grey washi tape onto light pink card, cut out and stuck onto the elephant with a foam pad.

For the background I used some papers from my stash, not sure who they are made by I’m afraid to say, but I loved the pinks and browns so decided to carry this colour combo through the rest of the card along with a touch of grey. To frame my elephant I picked out a piece of pattern paper with flourished circular shapes, I inked the edges and lay the elephant on top. It looked lost and didn’t look right at all so I grabbed by circle nestsabililtes. The brown looked too stark on its own so I added a layer of vellum over the top. This made the brown more muted and tied in well with the greys as well.

I liked this look but then had the idea to make it look like a cake topper. (hmm, cake!) At first I grabbed cocktail sticks, then paper straws, but neither looked quite right so in the end I just went to the kitchen and grabbed a cake pop stick from the baking drawer! To embellish the stick I added some washi tape along with a little flag stamped with the name Ella.

I hadn’t planned on going much further but the card looked really top heavy. After a bit of border punch action mixed with washi tape and a stamped greeting the card was complete!

Thanks for stopping by!

Last Monday I shared a Big Brother card for MANday Monday, and today i am sharing the card that i made for R’s little brother, Samuel – the new arrival!

The family came into work last week and I literally squealed with excitement. Little Samuel was so teeny tiny that he hardly looked real. Good news is that he is out of hospital (which is great news, seeing as he arrived 7 weeks early). Its clear to see that the whole family were delighted.

I know the over sized bow is a bit girly, but i think i pulled it off! I just love the way it gives lots of dimension to the card, and reminds me of a present – after all aren’t babies the most precious gift we can ever have?

Welcome to the world little one.
