Card Making

Hello crafty friends!

I am back from vacation, and it feels like a million years since I have been crafty! Although I was absolutely pooped after holiday, I really needed some creative therapy so I turned on the camera for another Come Craft With Me LIVE crafting sesh on Friday night. Thanks to everyone who joined me.

When I came home, there was an envelope of goodies waiting for me – from crafty Insta-friend Michelle Daigle. I managed to be the lucky winner of her Instagram giveaway and I won a Lawn Fawn ink pad and the Rooting for you stamp and die set. I decided to use them for my LIVE show.

I made a fun slider surprise card. I am not sure if that is actually what they are called but I am going to go with that for now! haha!

This is what the card look like normally – with lots of layers of die cutting to create a cloudy sky and a veggie patch. I used the lawn fawn simple stitched hillside border dies as well as the simple grassy hillsides dies and puffy cloud border dies. I reached for my distress inks to ink up the wite card. The veggie stamps are from the Lawn Fawn Rooting for You set – this is new to me – but lots of fun! I had to do a little mid-stream googling to get some colour inspiration for the vegetables. LOL.

I used the Lawn Fawn Ocean Wave accents to create little wavy lines in the soil so i could nestle the veggies in there. Fun, huh? I thought the front looked a bit bare without some critters, so I added three cute birdies from the Big Scripty words set. Of course, the magic happens when you pull the fun ribbon at the top!

PEEKABOO! Look a this cutie! I added the sweet bunny from the Mama Elephant page huggers set (coloured lightly with copic markers) – and when you pull the tag at the top (which incidentally is from Studio Katia) then the little bunny pops up out of the grass! SO FUN! Look at his sweet face!

For the tag, I used a new stamp set that I bought on holiday, its from Woodware and it has lots of bold words in it. I liked the way the HELLO stamp looked – although I was torn between HELLO and HUGS. I decided to go with HELLO and then pair this up with the ‘friend’ stamp from the Mama Elephant Sunday Sentiments set.

So there you have it! Thanks for taking a peep! At the moment I am working on some collaboration projects with Chibitronics, so keep an eye out for those coming soon.

Kitty In The Window

Hello friends,

I am just popping in to share a card that I made this weekend. I recently picked up the cute window die from Lawn Fawn and I hadn’t yet used it. I had the idea to create a card with some flowers on the window ledge.

I used a stencil to add a little brick effect to the background of my card using some fossil ink from Simon Says Stamp – I love the subtle look of it! For the flowers I used a few dies that I had in my stash – I think they were both freebies in magazines at some point. For the leaves, I cut one with plain green card and another from a green patterned paper – just for fun!

For the windows, I layered these up with acetate, so they actually move and they have ‘glass’ inside them. There is also a layer of acetate behind the kitty to make sure i could stick her down nicely.

The cat is from My Favorite Things and my 6yo Piper picked this image because ‘it looks like the pretty kitty is smelling the flowers’. I reckon it was the perfect image for this card! <3 I coloured her with my copics – just a little touch of colour!

On the inside I wanted to add a little something so you can see from the front of the card through to the inside, but when I looked at patterned paper, it seemed too busy. Instead I settled on this neutral coloured paper – it is similar to the colour in the kitty and the brick colour, so it works well I think.

I used the Lawn Fawn Outside In stitched rectangle dies for this. I love that they fit just PURRFECTLY!

Thanks for stopping by. Please forgive the phone photos, I didn’t have any battery in my ‘big’ camera, but wanted to share this project anyway.

big hugs

Lesley

OH …

A reminder – there will be no Come Craft With Me show this week. We are away at a wedding so won’t be able to do a LIVE YouTube stream. Sorry about that. Keep an eye on the YouTube channel as I will create an event for the next stream, whenever that may be.

Happy Crafting!

Happy Sunday my crafty friends!

I am up on the Heffy Doodle blog today with this fun croc card using the Happy Snappy Crocs ste from Heffy Doodle. I love how happy this lil guy looks – and I think he is one of the most popular images in the whole collection.

There is a video that walks through how the whole card was made, but lets give you guys the run down anyway. I started by stamping some of the smaller images onto some Lawn Fawn mermaid teal cardstock using a dark teal ink pad from Simon Says Stamp. Next I used a large stitched rectangle die from Lawn Fawn to cut out an A2 panel.

I used a square die to cut a square shape out of some white cardstock and then used my trimmer to cut it into a polaroid picture frame shape. I repeated this process with grey cardstock so I could create a shadow effect.

The croc I stamped and coloured with some light coloured copic markers and I used the coordinating dies to cut him out, and then layered some vellum behind my frame. For some extra fun I cut the vellum with some cloud dies and layered them up. I added a white heat embossed greeting and also heat embossed the camera flash image onto the background – i love how it pops!

To finish the card, I added some paperclips and a strip of washi tape and then stuck mister croc onto the card using some foam tape. I also added a camera in his hand, and a few hearts to finish off the design!

Thanks so much for stopping by. To place your order for Heffy Doodle products, be sure to do so before 31 July when the Kickstarter will close for preorders.
