Come Craft With Me

Hey crafty gang!

Last week I did an extra LIVE craft stream. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to give you guys warning, but when the urge strikes, the urge strikes! LOL.  I made a card for my nephew Luke, who has just started Uni. I remember when i started university, I was so flabbergasted about how much it cost to buy basic food. So instead of sending him a care package, I decided to send him a gift card for a grocery store. He can either buy food, snacks or drinkypoohs!

I thought it would be fun to create a background using lots of food images. I really wanted a beer tankard or beer bottle, but i had to make do with the wine bottle- haha! All the images in the background are from Heffy Doodle – and so is the panda….. well, kind of!

He is actually a bear from the Unbearable Without You stamp set – but I decided to stretch my stamps and colour him in like a panda. Massive thank you to Craig who googled a panda face to help me out in the middle of the LIVE stream – he kinda looked like a bandit at one point! 😀

The knife and fork are from a Lawn Fawn Party Animals set – aren’t they simply perfect! I then added a HELLO greeting which is from the Lawn Fawn Yay Kites set. I embossed it in blue and raised this up on a piece of die cut foam for lots of dimension!

Around the outside I added the Dotted Detail frame from Mama Elephant – I love that it is so fine and delicate – even though it can be a little tricky to work with at times.

On the inside, I tried to replicate the cool gift card holder die from Lawn Fawn. I used a folded piece of card, creased it and used a circle die to cut out a curved section. I love that this is a fun surprise when the card is opened! Also inside I added some stamping. The word ENJOY from Lawn Fawn Tiny Tags and the message below is from a Simon Says Stamp Bear Necessities stamp set.

There we have it! I hope Luke enjoys his surprise gift…. although I have just realised that it’s half term at the moment, so I better not post it until next week when he gets back on campus!

Thanks for stopping by, and i hope that you will join me for my regular LIVE crafting stream on Friday nights at 9pm UK time. You can watch LIVE on my youtube channel – youtube.com/hungryheffy – it’s lots of fun! DON’T FORGET – our clocks go back this weekend, which means us Brits are no longer on British Summer Time, but Greenwich Mean Time.

See you next time – where I will be showing you guys some sneaky peekies of the NEW Heffy Doodle Release! 😀

Hello crafty friends!  I’m popping on to share a blog post about my last Come Craft With Me session. I know some people like to watch from the blog rather that fetch it over at YouTube.

Every Friday night I turn on my webcam and invite you all to Come Craft With Me. I tend to get inky, make a few creations and have lots of fun interacting with all the lovely viewers that watch LIVE. If you think you would enjoy it – come on over to my YouTube, subscribe and turn on your notifications so you get a nudge when I go Live.

This week I was working on a commission for a crafty friend Tamara.  She, like me, is a big Lawn Fawn fan, and she asked me to make a halloween card and a Christmas card using Lawn Fawn. You know me…. mission accepted!

Et Voila! 😀 Here is the halloweeny card! I knew that I wanted to turn this sweet fox from the Lawn Fawn party animal stamp set into a bat – or rather, into a flying fox. I masked off his tail (and showed you a great tip on how to get fab results when masking) and coloured him in with copics.

The wings were more challenging but I knew i could make them work. I was envisioning batmans wings – and so I used my Simon Says Stamp circle dies to cut out the wings. Once I had done one, I used it as a guide to create a somewhat similarly shaped second wing.

This was the point where I had an epiphany – what if I could make the wings move!!? How COOL would that be! I had no idea at the start, but the gears were turning, and I decided to give it a try. But first – i needed a background. I used some distress ink and distress oxide ink to create a background – I also used a cloud border die to cut myself a stencil so i could build that cloudy effect.  I then use circle dies to cut out my channel for the slider mechanisms.

To finish the card I added some vellum to the bottom with a Happy Halloween message from Clearly Besotted, and added a Mama Elephant Dotted Details border around my project. I used my glaze pen to darken the eyes and nose of my critter as well as add lines to his lovely wings! SPOOKTACULAR!

Card two – CHRISTMAS! I decided to do something a bit different so I inked up my own candy stripe background. I used some narrow washi tape across my card front, and inked it up with worn lipstick and festive berries distress inks. I splattered it with a little perfect pearls in water for that distressed pearly sheen!

I thought it would be fun to do a shaker card using the Mama Elephant dotted detail frame -but its soooooooo fragile. So i had to use small shaky bits – i chose the Ice Chips embellishments from Honey Bee Stamps. I layered some vellum and acetate in my shaker, added some trees (that I had actually previously stamped a few weeks back – from the Loveable Legends stamp set) and also added a hilly landscape border. I also managed to heat emboss a greeting onto the acetate without melting everything! YAY ME!

I contemplated adding some more text to the bottom, but instead I went for a friend for the reindeer. He is from the Party Animals stamp set, and his penguin pal (and the gifts) are from the Toboggan Together set. I think they look like they are having some festive funtimes!

That’s it folks! Only two cards tonight – but two rather beefy ones, that turned out lovely. I hope Tamara likes her commissioned cards!

Don’t forget to join me next Friday for more Come Craft With Me!

Thank you to everyone who joined me for Friday night’s CCWM show. I swear I am getting quicker! Three cards in about 2.5hours – well that’s quicker than normal!

If you are new here, let me tell you about Come Craft With Me. Every Friday, I (virtually) open  the doors of my craft room, and invite you all to watch onward as I get crafty. It’s a LIVE stream, hosted on my YouTube channel, where I interact with viewers, create a few projects and have a good old giggle. Please subscribe to my YouTube and turn on your notifications so you never miss a show.

Let’s take a look at what I made! Not one, not two but THREE cards! First off, I was playing with my Picket Fence distress ink on kraft cardstock to make this fun background.

It’s a simple design, but I love how it turned out. The owl is from MFTstamps Forest Friends and the tree is from Mama Elephant Sunday Strolls stamp set. I also stamped the owl onto white card and coloured him in with some light coloured copic markers. The branch is from an older Hero Arts set – I think it was the perfect addition.

I grabbed my googly eyes – always a source of contention in my experience – but pretty much all the viewers seemed on board with adding a little whimsy to this cute critter. BUT big eyes, or little eyes!? That was the question. In the end, I outsourced my decision making to a viewer – and Nancy picked the larger eyes – Good choice, crafty friend!

Next up I wanted to use the FREE DIGITAL STAMP that Heffy Doodle was offering on their blog to celebrate World Card Making Day.  We had some issues here, as I first tried to use my zig clean color real brush markers, but I am still such a noob with these – I had to get Craig to print another version for me – but it all worked out in the end!

I added a little ink blending to this card – spun sugar, picked raspberry & festive berries – and then used the Wishing and Sending stamp set from SSS. The perfect little greeting for this card!

By the way, if you make a project with the Heffy Doodle FREE DIGI STAMP, remember to use the tag HEFFYDOODLEWCMD when you share your projects – you would win a stamp and die set! More details over on the Heffy Doodle blog.

For my third card, i wanted to get smoochy! INK SMOOCHING of course! I was inspired by the letter box in the digi stamp to use these envelope stamps to create a resist background on this card. I used a paper smooches thanks die with some pink craft foam for a nice textured greeting.

Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to join us next Friday if you are free. Simply pop over to https://youtube.com/hungryheffy and subscribe to my channel – you may need to edit your notifications settings if you want to get a pop up when the show goes live!

Happy crafting my friends!
