I guess i should say right now that this is a photo heavy post today! 🙂 It was actually supposed to be a video but i had slight issues. heehee!
My colleague Roy is one of those guys that ‘tries’ to let his birthday pass by unnoticed. Well, of course, we could not let that happen! Instead i wanted to give him a HungryHeffyCrafts one-of-its-kind card to show him that I think he’s the best!
Roy tends to like things that are interesting and interactive, anything remotely similar to engineering, so i figured an exploding box card would be perfect for him.
If you don’t know how to make one of these, i recommend you pop over to you tube- there are some great tutorials on there. The trick is to make sure it folds flat and the sticky-outy bits are able to fit within the width of the envelope, so i checked this every time i went to stick on another embellishment. Here’s how it looks folded flat.
I pulled out some masculine stamp sets to add a mechanic feel to the outside of the box. I used Mr Fix It stamp set from Woodware along with the Lawn Fawn Robots stamp set. The liquid platinum embossing powder from ranger gives a cool metallic finish!
I love these robot stamps from Lawn Fawn, they are so cute! This largest (blue) robot is actually a christmas hero arts clear stamp- i was so pleased that they all worked really well together!
I coloured the images with Spectrum Noir pencils and used blending solution and a paper stump to blend out the pencil lines.
The greeting is also from the Lawn Fawn Robots collection – i simply cut it into a square speech bubble and added some grey dots for a border with a marker pen.
For the background i used a Jillibeansoup stamp set that has a cool city scape on it. I heat embossed the image on grey cardstock, and used a white gel pen to create the illusion of some lights that were left on. The apha die set is an old Accucut die set that hasn’t been used in many years – i almost forgot i had it. I think its kinda cute the way it comes with its own border shadow! it really makes the text pop!
Here it is in the envelope. He got such a shock when he opened it! I think that is the best part of hand delivering cards!
