MAN-day Monday

WHAT? Where have I been?

So i know i’ve been really busy, but seriously???? How could I have missed that announcement!

As someone who has the whole collection of 36 Tim Holtz distress ink pads, imagine my shock when I stumble upon someone talking about limited edition colours! I think i actually shouted at my computer, and i frantically hit google. Geeeeez!

It turns out that Ranger have announced a limited edition trio of colours to the Distress Ink collection, especially designed with Autumnal colours. As ever, the colours are beautifully named with evocative titles: gathered twigs (a brown hue), ripe persimmon (an orange hue) and seedless preserves (a purple hue).

Tim has a great video to show us where these three colours lie in comparison to the other browns, orange and purple tones in the collection.

Check it out:

I have already placed an order – after all i can’t miss out on this limited edition set – that would mean my complete collection would once again be incomplete! If you want to get some too, you better act fast because apparently once they are gone, they are gone.

A little birdie tells me that they may be doing a winter edition as well- yipppppppppeeeeeeeeee!!

Come on postie – bring me my new distress inks to play with!

MAN-day Monday : Dino-mite card

Just over a year ago I had a regular monday slot called ‘Miss You Monday’, when I made a card each week for my friend Sarah who was in the States. The cards were for Sarah, but it was also lovely to have the ability to share them with all my followers at Hungry Heffy Crafts. To be honest, having a weekly spot meant that I was encouraged and motivated to make sure that I spent even just a few minutes crafting, and some days it was the case of making a super quick card just so that I had something to share on a Monday.

With the arrival of my darling little princess, time is even more precious, but sometimes i find myself wasting time doing nothing, and then when I look back, i regret not spending that time in my craft room. There have been countless evenings when Piper has not even stirred, but i spend my time browsing TV watching utter fluff, or clicking through facebook for no reason, even though it really doesn’t matter what my distant cousin ate for lunch or what an ex-colleague thinks about X-factor.

So I have decided to introduce a new weekly feature. 🙂

Some of you may already know this, but i sell a few of my cards at my hubby’s workplace, and i have had a request for a few more masculine cards. It’s not that I don’t like making men cards, but i have a tendency towards the prettier papers and embellishments i guess!

So i have set myself a challenge to create a masculine card every week to show you on ‘MAN-day Monday’. Perhaps they will be for fathers, for grandaddy’s, for brothers or cousins. Perhaps for teachers, for husbands or even for little boys; but one thing they will have in common is that Y chromosome.

So, please, won’t you join me at the start of every week to celebrate MAN-day Monday.

To start us off a cute dino themed card, cool enough for little boys and maybe not so little boys too.

Using large stamps is a great way to create backgrounds for your cards, and with a stamped background sometimes you need very little else to make your project eye-catching. I stamped the hero arts raindrops stamp with embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder to create the white polka dot background at the top of the card.

To add some whimsy, I cut a notch out of the side of the card, where the panel overlaps the edge. I used a square punch to create this effect, but you could quite easily achieve the same results with a ruler and craft knife.

Mister Dinosaur is a wooden stamp from Dovecraft – one of those £1.99 stamps that are usually lurking in bargain buckets. He’s been in my stash for ages and makes an appearance every now and again. I stamped him in Archival ink and used aquarelle pencils to colour him in. To make the greeting, I rifled through my stamps and did a little mixing and matching to get a phrase which was perfect for this card. I love the way the different fonts look all together.

Thanks for joining me for my first MAN-day Monday, and i hope you’ll pop back again soon.
