MAN-day Monday

Last Monday I shared a Big Brother card for MANday Monday, and today i am sharing the card that i made for R’s little brother, Samuel – the new arrival!

The family came into work last week and I literally squealed with excitement. Little Samuel was so teeny tiny that he hardly looked real. Good news is that he is out of hospital (which is great news, seeing as he arrived 7 weeks early). Its clear to see that the whole family were delighted.

I know the over sized bow is a bit girly, but i think i pulled it off! I just love the way it gives lots of dimension to the card, and reminds me of a present – after all aren’t babies the most precious gift we can ever have?

Welcome to the world little one.

Hey there,

One of our clients at work sometimes brings his little boy, Reuben, into the office and he is the cutest little thing ever! A few weeks back, the family were blessed with another little baby boy which meant that R became a big brother. I made a card for baby Samuel (which I will share soon) but today I wanted to show you a sweet and simple card which I made as a Congratulations card for a wee dude.

When I was looking at my papers from WRMK 72 & Sunny collection I noticed that the animal patterned paper had both a big turtle and a little turtle so i wanted to cut these out and use on this card to depict a big brother and little brother. It helped that they were really cute turtles too!

To contrast with the green i choose a red paper from the Echo Park Dots and Stripes paper. I LOVE this pad, cannot get enough of it!! {note to self to buy more}.

The most time consuming part of this card was making the greeting. I didn’t have a stamp that said exactly what i wanted to say so i used alpha stamps to make the greeting. For the ‘You’re a big brother’ bit, i made it span the whole width of the card and the white strip coordinates nicely with the white space at the top of the card. Next I hunted through a zillion stamps to find one that said Congratulations, but i didn’t like any of the typography / fonts that were on my stamps so i simply stamped this part letter by letter as well. This time I made the greeting narrower, used a square punch to chop the ends into a flag shape and used pop dots to add dimension.

This is one of my favourite cards just now. Love it!

Thanks for stopping by for another MAN-day Monday. See you next Monday for some more inspiration on making cards for the boys in our lives.

I heard some fantastic news a few weeks back that made me smile from ear to ear. My (not-so-little-but-in-fact- really-quite-tall) nephew has been selected for the Milk Cup, which is an International youth football tournament which takes place in northern Ireland each year. In short, this is a big deal!! It is such an awesome testament to Kyle’s mad, footy skills and a great reward for his hard work and dedication over many a year. I am one extremely proud Auntie. 😀

Most of the papers used here are from the MVP collection from We R Memory Keepers. I loved using the little shields and cups as cut out embellishments for the card. I used some linen twine at the top to suspend my name banner,  i use this on guy cards a lot.

Congratulations Kyle, and keep up the great work, you superstar! x
