Prizes

I promised a give away to celebrate my due date last week but never got round to publishing the post… Huge apologies, bur believe me- i have a really good reason!

As my darling hubby said, we are now the proud parents of a little baby girl. So life has exploded with wonderfulness (and an excess of tiredness!)
So I’m not going to spend a lot of time on this post so I can get some shut eye before it’s feeding time again.

I have a bundle of making memories stickers, brand new, that I want to give away to some newsletter subscribers as a thank you for being patient with me as I know I haven’t been updating the website as much as normal.

There’s 5 or 6 packs just waiting to be won. If you want your friends to be in with a chance too- just ask them to sign up to the newsletter, and put your name as the referrer. One pack will go to someone who has referred a friend- so the more people you refer, the more likely you are to win more prizes on the blog! <3
I’ll pick a winner some day this week when I get a quiet moment. (ha!)

Thanks. You guys are awesome!!
Xx

Baby Shower Gift Bags

So a month or two ago, my friend Sarah called me. She had to confess. She had been in secret cahoots with Craig, planning, conspiring, organising…a baby shower! I was THRILLED, and definitely bemused by her waning ability to keep it a secret from me. BUT, after about a minute, she knew it was the right thing to do, because I was SOOO excited.

Knowing about the baby shower meant that I could help with planning and preparations, it meant that we could arrange ‘baby shower committee meetings’ {aka, an excuse to meet up and chat}, and of course it meant that I had the opportunity to craft a little!

Sarah had already organised games to play, and being a dear friend, she knew that I would want to decorate the prize bags rather than buy pre-made ones! PAH! oh, no, no, no! pre-made wouldnt be acceptable at all!

When this months Scrapbook magazine popped through the door with a selection of freebie papers, my eyes nearly popped out of my head, as the colours looked fresh, yet subtle – perfect for this little project! I’ve used most of them for this project, and I’m really happy with how the bags turned out.

The Process
I wanted a simple but pretty design, so i made a quick sketch in my notebook, and decided to add a few digital elements to give it a professional, elegant edge. I quickly threw these digital elements together on my wacom and printed them out on white and green cardstock.

During my packing and unpacking, I rediscovered some foam stamps in my stash and felt inspired to use these onto this project. The line of kisses on the green cardstock is a foam stamp image, stamped with embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Once I adhered the paper, I added a flourish to the top edge, once again using a foam stamp and some embossing powder – this time in a blue glossy powder.

The main focal element was a circular, digital element that I made myself, so I cut these out using my nesties and my cuttlebug. I love the embossed edge, which I accented with a little green distress ink. Next I pulled out my pink cosmic shimmer embossing powder and a cute heart foam stamp. The photos do not do this justice as in real life it looks really shiny and pearlescent – ooohhhhh!

The finishing touches – a flower, a brad and of course….RIBBON!!

Thanks for popping by and checking out these prize gift bags that i’ve made…and as for the prize, well, i just can’t reveal that secret now can i?

Hey everyone, Happy New Year! I hope that 2011 holds lots of wonderful things in store for you and your loved ones. It blows my mind to think that i’m having a baby this year! All of a sudden this all feels VERY real and very close! I start maternity leave on 14th February, and already i’m seeing Valentines cards dominate the blogosphere, so I guess the final countdown has already started! (eeeek!) ♥

A week or two ago, I offered up a copy of Scrapbook Trends For the Home Inspiration book to one lucky reader. I’m sure you had all thought I had forgotten about it! heehee! But, not so – i was just waiting until the New Year to announce a winner. So here goes: Start stalking your mailbox LINDA as you are the lucky winner of this book. Please email me on lez (at) hungryheffycrafts.com with your address so i can get this shipped to you. Congratulations, and thank you to everyone who entered.

A New Year, A New Challenge!

For those of you who may not know, I help host the Paperclipping monthly challenges over at the Paperclipping Community page, and now that we have survived holiday season, we are celebrating the New Year with our January challenge! Each month we pick a few topics that have been discussed either in the Paperclipping Roundtable podcasts (a scrapbooking podcast full of great conversation and lots of laughs) or in one of Noell’s fabulous video tutorials (some of these are free, so be sure to check them out by visiting her website) The challenges themselves are all about having fun and finding inspiration, so why don’t you check out the challenge topics for this month and see if you want to join in. The details on how to enter can be found here.

Mission Craft Room continues

Yes, we are another few steps closer!
And every time i think about it, my heart beats faster and faster! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! (*jumps up and down clapping hands and grinning from ear to ear*) ♥

With New Years eve celebrations out of the way and after getting through the inevitable New Years Day full of movies and mooching about, we finally finished putting together the furniture for the craft room. I can’t explain how exciting it was to see the crisp white shelving standing against the wall like a blank canvas, awaiting for me to unleash my creative wrath onto it! In my mind i can already see where certain items are going to live and its very exciting!

I wanted to share a few photos of where we are just now. I was hoping to be further along by now, but there is no point unpacking boxes when there is still drilling and sawing to be done -otherwise every project would be coated with dust and nastiness. ugh! They do say that good things come to those who wait….(i hope they are right!)

I dreamt of these for so long…

My darling scrapbook paper storage unit, the best present ever!

A bookcase to the untrained eye, but i’ll not be using it for books….just wait and see!)

Just a few more bits to do, so we are off to B&Q first thing tomorrow to buy skirting board, roller blinds for the window and doors, wood for my bookcase (a secret project that may or may not work out), some wall plugs for the shelving and rails and then hopefully i’ll be ready to rock and roll! { ♥ sigh ♥}
