For so long I thought this day would never come, but alas, it has arrived!

Thats right, I have finally completed my collection of Distress Inks!!  It started with three humble pads (tea dye, vintage photo and Walnut stain – in the vintage brown era) and has now grown to the full collection of 36! Wooohooooo!

Many an ink pad has been a present: I got one or two for my birthday from my work colleagues, some from Santa at Christmas, I got two as a Happy Baby present, and the last two were a present from our friends Mark & Helen specifically to complete my collection (I have the best friends!). I even got an ink pad purely because I had faced my fears one day and put the bins outside (ugh!).  Craig would often bribe me with the prospect of adding a new hue to my arsenal and several times when considering an impulse buy such as a coffee or an icecream, he would whisper in my ear “You could buy that, OR… you could buy another (one) (two) (three) distress inks!”.  Inevitably, the impulse buy would instantly lose it’s appeal as I walked away smiling, dreaming about my Distress Ink collection growing to its full potential!

To celebrate this momentous day, I want to share a little portion of my craft room with you. I have a little trick for storing the blending foam for each of my distress ink colours, which not only is perfect for picking the best colours to use on projects, but also looks really pretty on my wall. On Ranger Ink’s website, all the lovely folk over there have created a label template to stick on your ink pads, and this gave me the idea to create an inventory chart. I made a grid on the computer, with a little box for each colour, and printed this out. I increased the size of the chart using a photocopier  so that each box would accommodate a blending foam pad and then I laminated the chart. Next I stuck little velcro squares onto the chart. This enables me to stick the foam pads separate so I don’t cross contaminate them, and like I say – doesn’t it look lovely!

But by far the most WONDERFUL aspect of this chart stuck on my wall is that everyone who comes into the craft room can see which colours are missing and know exactly what to buy you for your next present!

Thanks for stopping by to share my excitement and celebrations- and all I can say is: “Tim! Ranger Ink! – We need more colours!!

Oh, and don’t forget that there’s still the November Competition to enter, sponsored by Craftwork Cards, where you can win up to £100 worth of crafty goodness…go on, hop over and enter!

Hmmm…Hot Cocoa & Marshmallows

Hey everyone,

Halloween is outta the way now and i’m still trying to convince Craig that it’s nearly Christmas! He’s not yet ready to admit it, but with each and every shop that we go into that has an array of Crimbo products, I figure it can’t be long until he realises that its true! After all, we have entered Red Cup season as far as Starbucks is concerned! Mmmm… I do love Gingerbread lattes so I always wait with anticipation for the red cup release day.

So today’s project is inspired by two things. Firstly, y’know that feeling that you get when its cold outside and your hands are numb and your nose is red, then you get a cup of hot coffee or hot cocoa between your hands and as you inhale the sweet aroma, you are instantly filled with complete gratification. {Yip, I was inspired by a feeling, i’m weird I know!} The second inspiration starting point was the Card Candy embellishments by Craftwork Cards. I bought a pack of pink and brown Card Candy ages ago (and yes, i still have loads, they totally last AGES!) and I realised that this colour combo pack has the cutest name: ‘ Choc and Mashmallow’.

So it’s easy to join the dots and see why this card turned out the way it did!

I didn’t have a template for the cup shape, so I just drew it freehand, and had lots of fun making the whipped cream using DecoArts Snow Writer and then I sprinkled the card candy on top! My original plan was to put the greeting on the outside of the card, but it ended up covering too much of the cup of cocoa, so I transformed this project from a standard card into an easel card. The biggest challenge I faced when making this project was waiting for the Snow Writer to dry! I’m so impatient and it looked good enough to eat and I just couldn’t wait to finish the card! HAHA!

Thanks for stopping by

Just a quick post to show off some photos we took at the Hobbycrafts show this Thursday. We had a fantastic time and met some really wonderful crafty people. Our Hungry Heffy Crafts Facebook page has even more photos so be sure to check it out. While you are there, don’t forget to ‘like’ our comment about our current competition sponsored by Craftwork cards, as there will be a prize giveaway to one lucky person from facebook. Remember, there are three ways to win in our current competition, so check out the full details so you can make sure you are doing everything you can to better your chances of winning! Competition now closed.

We had a slight set back at the start of the day, ugh! Flat tyre! The delay meant that we didn’t arrive at the NEC until the afternoon, and I wasn’t too impressed about missing out on some more crafty purchasing time, although I have to say that my feet still ached at the end of the day, so it was probably best that we didn’t arrive three hours earlier as we had planned!

I was thrilled that one of my first stops was the Meiflower stand. Meiflower specialise in crafty embellishments: bows, flowers, topper elements and above all my absolute favourite – metal charms! You have probably seen me use their charms in some of my projects – My favourite one is this love heart charm which is engraved with ‘made with love’. I’ve used it on this Home decor project, and this Anniversary card. I also love their butterflies, one of which I have used on this accessory holder. Mei, Shahid and Babs sure were busy, but later in the day we stole a few photos once we got near the stand. Here’s one which shows you a selection of their products (oh, lush!) and one of Mei crafting away!

We also met Richard from WOW embossing powders, and just look at how beautiful all those jars are! Yum! This photo makes me so very happy!

Here’s me with Leandra from Paperartsy. I love the artsy, collage style of Paperartsy stamps, they are so unique and definitely have a grungy style that makes me want to get inky. You will see i’ve used some of their Bricks & Mortar stamps on this scrapbook layout called ‘Life in the city‘ – aren’t those houses sooo cool and whimiscal!   Paperartsy have just realised a beautiful line of purple hued papers which you will love, so be sure to jump on over to their site to see their full range.

Here’s some of Leandra’s handiwork – aren’t these samples gorgeous?! Just breathtaking!

We also got to meet the wonderful Julie Hickey, who was spending the day demo-ing Craftwork Cards products on the Dolly Cottage Crafts stall. Thats right, the name probably sounds familiar because it is Craftwork Cards who are sponsoring this month’s prize giveaway. I’ll be showing you loads more of their products over the next few weeks, but thought I would whet your appetite by showing you what wonderful creations Julie has made with their lines.

We met a few other people too, and I have to admit I may have spent a few craft pennies during my time there! Don’t worry, I’ll be sharing my crafty purchases with you real soon.

The NEC Craft event is running until Sunday 7th November, so if you are near the Birmingham area, perhaps you’ll drop in for yourself and don’t forget to say hello to all our crafty friends.
