Hey guys

I recently used the last of the adhesive in my Glue Glider Pro (sob) and I decided to take it apart and use the cogs inside as misting masks.

This was an idea inspired by a project that my eFriend Erin Bassett did when she dismantled her Glue Glider Pro. Check out her project here.

It was an experiment to be honest, but I loved the result. I used some Cosmic Shimmers Mists, very similar to Glimmer Mists or Maya Mists.

This scrapbook layout is of my nephew Joshua on the day that we went to Legoland. He loved the whole experience, and I adored this photo of him running down the pathway with a cheeky grin on his face. It really was the look of sheer happiness.  This was one of those quick, fun layouts that just materialize without too much concentration. I love it when that happens.

Bubbles
Whilst making this layout, I also rediscovered a stash of a particular product that, if my memory serves me, are called bubbles. I can’t for the life of me remember who made them, but they are cool acrylic domes that you can stick to products but put charms, beads and other loose items inside. It acts as a little shaker bubble. You can see that I added a small square bubble to the layout with a few seed beads inside.

Thanks for popping by, and for my next post I’ve got a quick video to show you how I customized some household string in order to get it this cool blue colour so it would match my layout. See you then.

Two Groovy Chicks

So have you entered the competition yet? Make sure you do before the drawing on Sunday.

Today I have a fun 8.5 x 11 layout to share featuring my niece Bethany and my cousin Megan (aka Tilly). This was inspired by a cool layout over on the Studio Calico blog, although the end result doesn’t look anything remotely like the original layout that inspired me – but isn’t that the beauty of inspiration?

I wanted to contrast the kraft cardstock with a bright and busy pattern paper, and this flowery design from Toga worked fantastically – plus it gave me the opportunity to cut out this really cute birdie from the reverse of the paper.

The circular photos were a way to create an element of fun and whimsy amidst a sea of bubbly, layered embellishments to create a layout with a young, girly feel. I loved drawing around a die cut cloud to create the subtle impression of a shape. I could have cut some out of patterned paper, but I felt this would have been too heavy for the layout, and after all, aren’t clouds supposed to be light and airy? The bird was too cute not to use, but as this was a bold colour, it caught the eye and drew attention away from the photos, so to maintain the balance of the layout i created a visual triangle by adding a flower gem on the flourish and a red button. These three red elements create a triangle which has a central point of the main photo, thus bringing the attention back to the girls, where it belongs. I created another similar visual triangle using darker colours: the heart on the green background, the Friends stamp & the dots stamp. I should note that I don’t always do this intentionally, i just do what feels right. I’m happy with the finished piece, and I hope you like it too.
