Techniques

Hello there,

I thought it was about time that i shared a ‘normal’ video tutorial with you guys! HAHA! If you are subscribed to my YouTube channel, you will have noticed a change over the last few months where I have been releasing less of the shorter 8-10 minute videos, and my content has been mostly the LIVE crafting sessions. (Which are super fun and you should definitely join in – Fridays at 9pm BST)

But today I have a shorter video which I hope you will all enjoy – one which you may have seen over on the Heffy Doodle Kickstarter page – and in the reveal videos too.

For this card I am showcasing the Elephant Of Surprise stamp set from Heffy Doodle, and I am also using a small image from the Interactively Yours stamp set – also from Heffy Doodle.

I start by stamping my cardstock to create a striped background using some Simon Says Stamp fog ink, and then die cut some circles using a SSS circle die. I grabbed some pattern paper, vellum and acetate before stamping and embossing the greeting onto the vellum – which would be inside the shaker window.

I also stick two dies together using some washi tape so I can cut out a frame as well as two pieces of craft foam which have had Stick-It adhesive adhered to both sides – this allows me to build up my shaker panel on the front of the card. I used some sequins from Lucy’s Cards – as I ADORE her sequin mixes so much!

The images I stamped using my MISTI and coloured with copic markers. I kept the colouring pretty simple, as I like the cutesy cartoon look that they give. I decided to add the sad little elephant on the front and then surround him with some of the cool accessories in the set.

For the inside of the card, I used the circle that was left over when I die cut my shaker frame – I thought it would be fun to add this to the inside. I also wanted to have an ACTUAL surprise on the inside – and I thought one of those action-wobblers would be perfect….unfortunately, I didn’t have any….

…But I am not the kinda girl that lets THAT stand in the way – so I show you in the video how I made my own easy-peasy action wobbler device! OH YEAH!

In case you were wondering, the blue embossing powder is from Cosmic Shimmer – and OH BOY does it shimmer! It has such a gorgeous pearly sheen – its just amazing!

Thank you guys so much for joining me today – please do leave a comment if you get a chance.

If you haven’t already, and are considering buying some Heffy Doodle stamps – head on over to the Kickstarter page which is currently the only place that you can get these products right now. PLUS you get a reduced price and there also lots of savings in the bundle packages.

AND.. before you go, I am participating in a HEFFY DOODLE blog hop on Saturday 15th July – so mark your calendars because it is going to be awesome! And of course there will be a prize to celebrate the hop! See you then!

Happy Crafting!

Helllllloooooo from this cute little mouse! I hope all my crafty friends are having a super day!

Today I want to share this card which features some of my favourite stamps sets, alongside some new products from a company which I have only recently discovered – AladinE.

When I was at Creativation, I was was walking down an aisle when I overheard a french accent coming from a demo table. I studied french at Uni so I was excited to check out the booth – and boy am I glad I did! I was excited to see a massive booth called AladinE, which had a huge range of crafty supplies – ink pads, stamps, dies, masks, fabric paints, markers and so much more. One of the most exciting products in my opinion was their texture paste. It works in a similar way to embossing paste, but it is far more robust. You can use it on metal, glass, card, wood and EVEN FABRIC! Yes – fabric, and its machine washable!

I decided to give it a try on a card today, along with a fun chevron mask and some embossing powder also some AladinE.

I thought I would use the paste to create a textured background, and then create a more whimsical design using layers of stamped images and vellum. I reached for the Mama Elephant Page Huggers stamp set along with the Yay, Kites set from Lawn Fawn -they were perfect for this card!

In the video you can see how I put together the whole card, although I will admit that I pre-stamped the images off camera first. I used my trusty copics to add some lovely colour to the images before diecutting them. I needed a few extra elements to build a ‘ground’, so I also used the Mama Elephant Up, Up and Away set to stamp some cute flowers.

I admit, I got a little bit stuck when it came to adding a greeting. I ummm-ed and aahhh-ed for about 10 minutes before settling on this scripty hello die cut from Simon Says Stamp. I used the Izink embossing powder to get the rich tomato colour, and mounted this onto die cut layers of foam to get great dimension on the card.

To finish it off, I added some little gems and dew drops from Honey Bee Stamps.

This card is a bit different to some of my other cards, but I am really happy with the way it turned out. I was really happy also with the texture paste and I cannot wait to try it out on some fabric. I even bought a little kids apron and I thought that Piper and I could have a go at decorating it for her. I think she will get a kick out of designing her own apron.

Thanks for stopping by and watching the video. See you again soon!

Crafty friends are the best! Don’t ya think? 🙂

When I was in Arizona for Creativation this January, I had the pleasure of hanging out with the some of the Honey Bee Stamps gang – Melissa, Lisa, Taniesa and Carrie. One night we had a sleepover and a little crafting – it was such fun!  I didn’t have much supplies with me, but the girls let me tuck into theirs. Isn’t that so lovely!? Taniesa had the Lawn Fawn Love Letters stamp set – which hadn’t quite reached us in the UK at that point. I stamped and die cut a few, but didn’t have a chance to use them that evening so I brought them home with me.

I finally got a chance to use them this week, and I had an idea to make a pretty META card – this card, is a card about sending a card! Yes, I know its a bit crazy but FUN right?!

This card was also inspired by a recent project by Nichol Sphor, where she used yellow and orange tones to create a beautiful background. I don’t know why I hardly ever use yellow and orange tones, but Nichol’s card make me push outside of my normal comfort zone and give it a try AND I love the end result! I am definitely going to use these colours more often!

The scalloped rectangles are from the Lawn Fawn Stitched Heart Envelope die set, and I have used two together to create a larger panel on the left and kept one separate for the right. This is because I wanted the design to have a storyboard feel to it!  Plus it was a challenge to create the design in such a way so the elements hid the seam. I think it all worked out in the end! You can hardly tell that its two rectangles stuck together!

I also used my copic markers to colour in the images, and instead of yellowy chickies, I went for teal birdies this time, so they wouldn’t get lost against the background. I also used some stamps from the Lawn Fawn Monster Mash stamp set to add some fun words to the letter and speech bubble!

When making this card I had this painful revelation that I don’t have any teal cardstock left in my stash! How terrible! But nothing a little Peacock Feathers Distress Ink can’t fix for now! I layered some inked card under the edge of my white panel, after using a Mama Elephant Fine Trimmings die to add cute little holes. I love that you can see a little of the blue peeping through the holes. For the background I used some Echo Park Homefront paper from the 6×6 Dots and Stripes paper pad. I think it was the perfect design for the background! To finish I gave the card a sprinkling of sequins from the Honey Bee Stamps Baby Girl sequin mix!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this card today!

Be sure to watch the video for more information on how i made this card, and if you have any questions be sure to leave a comment or contact me using the feedback form on my blog.

Just a note to say that the Honey Bee Stamps & MISTI collaboration BlogHop will be open until 7th April 2017 when the winner will be announced. Check out my previous post for more details on how you can enter the giveaways!
