Hello there my sweet HoneyBee friends! Today I had so much fun making this slider card for today’s blog post – take a peek at the contents of the box on the photo below. Now let’s have another look at the box in the photo below! SURPRISE!! <3

For this card, I have made a hidden slider card, and I was inspired by the awesome Celebration Box HoneyCuts die as it cuts a line on the inside of the box. Originally I thought I would insert a gift card, as it is the perfect size – but sometimes my creative journey turns out different from my creative plans. 🙂

To start with, I stamped some images and got colouring. The balloons, box and strings are from the Celebration box set and the pretty kitty is from the Curious Kitties set. I coloured these with copic markers and set them to the side whilst I worked on the rest of the card. I cut a panel from white cardstock and added some ink blending through a mini hearts stencil using Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar. I trimmed it down and added a pink border on both the left and right.

I used a slider die to cut a slot into the white cardstock – this will be how I hide the sliding panel. Speaking of which, I am creating this sliding panel using two strips of acetate with my die cut elements inside. Because there is acetate on the front and back, the acetate will slide in and out super easily and none of the die cute pieces will catch as it travels up and down. Plus it gives a really cool invisible effect due the transparency of the acetate. As well as the balloons, I added a strip of pink card with white embossed YOU DID IT on there! This will be a surprise message when you pull out the slider.

At the bottom of the acetate, I added a skinny piece of card which was longer than the hole in the white panel. This will act as a stopper then I pull the acetate up, just like you can see in the photo. I added foam tape on both sides of the cardstock panel, and a very thin piece along the bottom, making sure that these won’t interfere with the acetate. The strip at the bottom makes sure that the acetate doesn’t fall out the bottom of the card.

Next I mounted the front panel on to a piece of teal cardstock, making sure the acetate was already through the slider hole. Next I took my stamped and die cut box and pushed the acetate through the slit in the middle. Carefully, I added glue dots to the back so I could secure my box in  place. I wanted the balloons to be juuuussssst peeking out!

I trimmed off the excess acetate so it was flush with the top of my panel then I then took a circle punch and punched through the white and teal cardstock to create a little thumb notch at the top. I reached for my Hooray stamp set, white embossed the Hooray image onto pink cardstock, and used the coordinating shadow honeycuts die to cut it out! I only added foam tape to the far left and right, then stuck this carefully onto my card, making sure the foam didn’t hinder the acetate.

I used the same pink cardstock to punch out another circle to add to the top of the acetate -I think this helps draw attention to the fact that there is something there to pull. I also added my cute kitty to the scene to finish off the design.

Now for the magic —- pull the acetate UP!!
