Tips & Advice

Hello there,

I thought it was about time that i shared a ‘normal’ video tutorial with you guys! HAHA! If you are subscribed to my YouTube channel, you will have noticed a change over the last few months where I have been releasing less of the shorter 8-10 minute videos, and my content has been mostly the LIVE crafting sessions. (Which are super fun and you should definitely join in – Fridays at 9pm BST)

But today I have a shorter video which I hope you will all enjoy – one which you may have seen over on the Heffy Doodle Kickstarter page – and in the reveal videos too.

For this card I am showcasing the Elephant Of Surprise stamp set from Heffy Doodle, and I am also using a small image from the Interactively Yours stamp set – also from Heffy Doodle.

I start by stamping my cardstock to create a striped background using some Simon Says Stamp fog ink, and then die cut some circles using a SSS circle die. I grabbed some pattern paper, vellum and acetate before stamping and embossing the greeting onto the vellum – which would be inside the shaker window.

I also stick two dies together using some washi tape so I can cut out a frame as well as two pieces of craft foam which have had Stick-It adhesive adhered to both sides – this allows me to build up my shaker panel on the front of the card. I used some sequins from Lucy’s Cards – as I ADORE her sequin mixes so much!

The images I stamped using my MISTI and coloured with copic markers. I kept the colouring pretty simple, as I like the cutesy cartoon look that they give. I decided to add the sad little elephant on the front and then surround him with some of the cool accessories in the set.

For the inside of the card, I used the circle that was left over when I die cut my shaker frame – I thought it would be fun to add this to the inside. I also wanted to have an ACTUAL surprise on the inside – and I thought one of those action-wobblers would be perfect….unfortunately, I didn’t have any….

…But I am not the kinda girl that lets THAT stand in the way – so I show you in the video how I made my own easy-peasy action wobbler device! OH YEAH!

In case you were wondering, the blue embossing powder is from Cosmic Shimmer – and OH BOY does it shimmer! It has such a gorgeous pearly sheen – its just amazing!

Thank you guys so much for joining me today – please do leave a comment if you get a chance.

If you haven’t already, and are considering buying some Heffy Doodle stamps – head on over to the Kickstarter page which is currently the only place that you can get these products right now. PLUS you get a reduced price and there also lots of savings in the bundle packages.

AND.. before you go, I am participating in a HEFFY DOODLE blog hop on Saturday 15th July – so mark your calendars because it is going to be awesome! And of course there will be a prize to celebrate the hop! See you then!

Happy Crafting!

Hello everyone,

It was Friday last night, which meant another ‘Come Craft With Me’ session on YouTube – where I had another great evening filled with crafting and chit chat! A huge thanks to all who joined me!

Above is the video of the live stream – so in case you don’t know what this is – every Friday night, at 9pm BST, i turn on the webcam and do a little crafting LIVE on air. You can watch live – dipping in and out as you please or sticking around for the whole session – or you can watch the video afterwards. If you join us LIVE, it means you can ask questions and interact with all the awesome gang who make this experience so much fun! Every week we all learn LOADS – not just tips and techniques, but also get lots of ideas and inspiration, we share challenges and things we have learnt! Its so FUN!

Last night I was making a ‘well done’ card for a friend who is currently obsessed with Big Foot. Naturally, the cute Big Foot image from the Lawn Fawn Loveable Legends set was the perfect stamp for this card. I kept the front rather simple in design, but will be making it into a shaker card- with some sequins by Honey Bee Stamps peeking out from some die cut alphas.

I wanted the front to be quite plain, so that the inside REALLY pops …and I really DO mean POP! That’s right, I am making a pop up element inside the card, with Mister Big Foot holding a flower.

This card is for my friend Elizabeth who also has her own YouTube Channel – Occasional Vlog. Her vlog follows her wonderful family, and is also documenting her inspirational journey as she works towards a healthier life. This week she is in Rhodes on a running retreat – which she was not much looking forward to! But she did it! YAY! And she definitely deserves a little Hungry Heffy Crafts handmade card as a ‘pat on the back’.
Please head over and take a look at her channel – but if you are anything like me, I get addicted and end up watched loads! 🙂 youtube.com/occasionalvlog

I used some Honey Bee Stamps embellishments for the shaker on the front. These blue and green tones were simply beautiful – I think they look so pretty. Here’s a closer look!

For the inside, I used some Lawn Fawn puffy cloud border dies, and simple grassy hillside dies to cut out the ground and the tree canopy – and added some kraft stamped trees using the Joy To The Woods stamp set – also from Lawn Fawn.

On the inside, I added a ‘congratulations’ message from the Mama Elephant Sunday Sentiments stamp set, and then added the ‘you’re unbelievable’ from the same Loveable Legends set that has the bigfoot image in there. I decided to do these in two different colours so they really popped!

If you watch the video you will see that the congratulations stamp didn’t quite go according to plan – but like they say in ‘Project Runway’ – I simply had to MAKE IT WORK!

With the help of my LIVE viewers, we decided to add on a silver frame and some stars to the front! I love the way the Big Foot is peeking out of the star – I don’t this it is immediately obvious what creature he actually is at this point – but as soon as Elizabeth opens the card – I am sure she will be delighted to find a furry friend inside!

Thanks for stopping by, and mark your calendars for next Friday – I hope you can come and join in the LIVE fun!

Happy Crafting!

Hello everyone,

Before I start talking about today’s card I wanted to remind everyone that the Chibitronics giveaway is still open – but not for long – so if you haven’t already entered – please head over to the giveaway blog post to find out how you can be-in-it-to-win-it!

I hope you are all having a great weekend! For us in the UK, its an extra long one, as tomorrow is a bank holiday – gotta love those three day weekends!

Today’s Hungry Heffy Crafts card making tutorial is to make a fun little baby boy card! I recently found out that friends from our University days recently became parents – even against some tremendous odds! I was so blown away by the news of their perfect little arrive, I swear I cried my eyes out when I heard the news. It was even more heart-wrenching because little Orran is a premie – and although perfect in every way, in the photo he looked so tiny and fragile.

I thought I would send his mumma and papa a HHC handmade card, and the Mama Elephant Just Hatched stamp set was the first stamp set that came to mind for this card! The little dino is so sweet – he was perfect for this card today!

I also paired this stamp set up with few other Mama Elephant stamp sets – first, the Sunday Sentiments set, and also the Iconic letters set so I could add his name to the inside of the card! I actually don’t normally decorate the inside, but I was glad that I did this time – I think it gives this card an extra pizazz, especially as I wanted the front to remain clean and simple.

To find out how I made the card, simply take a look at the video tutorial where I walk you though my process. If you have any questions, please be sure to leave me a comment either here on on YouTube – I am always happy to help if i can.

Thanks for watching!

Lesley
