CCWM – too soon for Christmas?

Hey guys!

The answer was yes! LOL

Well, at least for some of us! Thank you to those who joined me on Friday night for my Come Craft With Me LIVE stream over on my YouTube channel. I wasn’t feeling too great on Friday, and you guys al cheered me up. That, and a little craft therapy!

At the start of the stream, I couldn’t quite bring myself to make a Christmas card…but by the end I was coerced into embracing the upcoming festive season by making a Heffy Christmas card!

You can see the full video of the LIVE stream by watching the video above, or on my Hungry Heffy you tube channel. NOTE  – it is a live unedited stream, and not a short cardmaking video tutorial. Feel free to skim through it, or put it on in the background whilst you are doing something else. 😀

First up was this guy! I masked the background using some masking paper cut with a spellbinders die, and used my dye ink pads to with a blending tol to create a soft ink blended background. I am IN LOVE with it!

I splattered the inky background with some water using a paintbrush, and then splattered it (and my monitor it would seem) with some white watercolour paint.

The trees are from Lawn Fawn’s Loveable Legends stamp set and the cute beastie is from the Yeti Set Go set, also from Lawn Fawn. This set also contains the ‘need a hug sentiment’.

I used a die from the Lawn Fawn Rooting For You set to cut a speech bubble kinda shape (its actually a turnip!!) and then stamped a heart onto it using my Heffy Doodle Unbearable Without You set (SSS | AZ).

Next stop… a shaker card for a 18 year old boy.

I used the same two dye inks to blend an ombre background, and then die cut the numbers, inlaid them, and embossed the happy birthday greeting. Yes – i did accidentally put my finger onto the hot embossed area, leaving a nice layer of epithelial on there! Fun times!

For inside the shaker, I added some seed beads, a white sequin mix, and some metal shaker elements from Cheery Lynn. They say AWESOME! I think the metal gives this card are more masculine feel! Plus, the elements are pretty cool!

The bear is from the Lawn Fawn party animal set and I coloured him in with my copics. I used a craft knife to cut slits in his paws so he could hold the cake a bit better. Then I added some presents from the Lawn Fawn Toboggan Together set.

For my last card, I crumbled under peer pressure to make a Christmas card! LOL. The request was to make a Heffy Christmas card using Heffy Doodle stamps – and how could i refuse?

I created an ink blended background with my distress inks and used my Lawn Fawn landscape dies to build up a scene – adding a little ink to bring in some colour. The Merry Christmas is also from the Toboggan Together set, and I love the way the white heat embossing looks against the blended background. (This time i did not poke it!)

For the main event, I chose two elephants from the Heffy Doodle Elephant of Surprise stamp set, and added some santa hats, and snowballs from some other Lawn Fawn sets. I love how they coordinate well together!

I added some Marvy snow marker to the white sections of the hats and heated it up with my embossing tool to make it poofy!

There we go! Three cards! BA-DA-BOOM!

Don’t forget that I do a LIVE crafting stream every friday – I would love for you to join me! Hop on over to my Youtube channel and subscribe. Perhaps turn on notifications – that way you can know when I am live. <3

Happy Crafting!

Hello gang,

We are testing out a new video software this week. Thats good news for you, because you get an extra video tutorial! 😀

Today’s card is a fairly simple design, but I love the texture created by the embossing paste. And doesn’t this bear just look the CUTEST with his little brolly!

A few weeks back I shared a card for the Love From Lizi birthday blog hop, and I used my gelatos to colour the die cut feather shapes. I got LOADS of comments saying how they loved that I showed a way to use gelatos – so i decided to pull them out again for another fun card. Yep – that’s right, I coloured my rain BLUE with my gelatos. It’s quick, it’s simple, IT’S MEGA FUN!

The bear is from Bitty Bears from MFT and I coloured him with my new Zig clean color real brush markers. The greeting is from Hero Arts.

Enjoy the video!

Hello crafty friends,
The chibi gang are having fun this week with a collaboration celebration between Chibitronics and Newton’s Nook.

Don’t forget to jump over to the Chibitronics blog to see all the fab projects and get links to more fun creations!

What’s more – Chibitronics and Newton’s Nook are each giving away a $30 starter kit and a $30 gift certificate. To enter to win please leave a comment on all the blogs and winners will be randomly chosen at the end of the week.

As soon as I saw this airplane stamp – Newton Takes Flight – I knew that I wanted to make a fun sky scene and use the chibitronic lights to light up the wings. I thought it would also be a great excuse to use the Chibitronics Effect stickers as well. These are fun additions that make your light flash, flicker and more. For this project I chose the pulse option – it worked great.

So if you have seen my work before, you know that I love an interactive card, and I had so many ideas for this card…. and in the end I pretty much did them all. I wanted to have a surprise pop up situation where the front section of the card opens up in a surprising way. I also wanted to make the propeller blade in to a spinning element, and on top of that, I had a cool idea for creating a fun switch. It took some time to wrap my brain around the engineering… but I never let that stop me!

So here it is..

You will see in the video that I started this time with the circuit. I wanted to make sure that my idea would work. I actually built my circuit onto a piece of vellum (that I had stamped with my plane image), which came in really handy later on in the video. I think I will do that again, for sure! It was my first time using the effect stickers so I found a template on the chibitronics website and used that as a guide – he’s a look at my circuit.

I use the little chibitronics stencil to help me get the placement just right – what an awesome little tool!
So my idea was to build a fun, unusual kind of switch. I wanted to be able to slide a cloud panel upwards in order to turn on the lights, and then slide it down again to turn it off. I almost can’t believe that I did it! BRAINPOWER FOR THE WIN! You will have to watch the video to see how it is achieved… I found it hard enough to explain in the video WITH visual aids, i’m not sure i should even attempt to explain it with just words.

I added some stamping to the front using the ‘flyng by to say’ stamp, and then on the inside I added some more Newton’s Nook images from the ‘Newton Dreams of Paris’ set..y’know…for extra fun. I couldn’t help but use the sweet Eiffel Tower stamp -and the teeny weeny hot air balloons -so adorable! I also added the word BONJOUR! [Note to self – book a flight to France before too long! 🙂  heehee]

Here’s what it looks like when you stand it up!

I added a little ink blending with a brush for some soft blue tones under the clouds, and finished with a few black enamel accents.

Thanks for joining me for this fun Newton’s Nook and Chibitronics collaboration. Don’t forget to visit the Chibitronics blog where you can get links to the other projects! You will want to see them – they are FABULOUS!

HAPPY CRAFTING!

Lesley
