Sometimes I am surprised at how much an idea can change. As I started my Come Craft With Me youTube LIVE stream last night, I shared a sketch of a card idea. However, throughout the video, you will see that I change my mind several times, and by the end of the show, the card looks completely different!

I think this is a really fun thing to do. You guys get to see WHY I change my mind, you get to see what influences my decisions, and you get to see how I just ‘make it work’.

For this card I was inspired by a stamp set from Newton’s Nook – which has this cute hot air balloon with a kitty in it. I wanted to create a sky behind it, but was torn between a day time scene (primarily because I wanted to use the lawn fawn stitched cloud backdrop diecuts – teehee) and a night time scene. Another idea which has been in my mind for a long time is to use the Go-Press & Foil machine with my Lawn Fawn snowy backdrop die to create a beautiful starry foiled background. I thought it was be AWESOME to do this on top of a galaxy effect inked background. I asked the viewers for their thoughts and we went with a night time sky!

I also decided to change it up this time – no copics! GASP!! Can you even believe it! 🙂 Instead I used my distress inks to watercolour my image. Whilst I had my distress inks out, I used the blending too to create the galaxy / night time background.

So the Go-Press & Foil machine is pretty epic. If you haven’t already seen it – you should check it out! Not only can you use hot foil stamps but you can also use it with your dies – which is what i did. The machine is built to work with manual die cutting machines – it works perfectly with the Go Cut & emboss machine, but i use it with my Big Shot. I will say however, that you need to use a few cardboard shims to get the pressure just right. You will see me experimenting in the video – but the results are WELL worth it!

I also wanted to add the Eiffel Tower – for some added cuteness. I miss France. I need to go back there soon. Anyway…. off track … 🙂

My original idea was to add some chibitronics to the card, but the design changed so much along the way that i thought that i wouldn’t use them…. BUT…. then I decided it would be unfair to tease you and then not deliver… so I added some white stars. It also gave me a good excuse to use some Heffy Doodle stamps! I used the PRESS ME stamp from the Interactively Yours set to add a little instruction to the cloud. 🙂 And just look at the foily goodness!! <3

We have a collaboration coming up soon with Newton’s Nook and Chibitronics, but I have already made another project to share – so that will be coming soon (date to be confirmed). Keep an eye on my YouTube channel as it will appear there (and here on the blog) when it is the right time.

Thank you for joining me last night, I hope that you can join me again next week. It’s the day before my birthday – woohoo! I am also going to have a giveaway over on Instagram so please keep an eye out over there, and help spread the word! 🙂

Happy Crafting!

If you are following along on the hop, you would have come from the awesome Lizi over at the Love From Lizi blog, and if not – don’t fear – you can start at the beginning by visiting the Heffy Doodle blog – just click HERE!

I have actually got two projects today – because after I made the card, I had a few scraps on my table that I simply couldn’t waste – so I made a matching pillow box to coordinate with this fun card! The full instructions are available in the video at the bottom of this post.

I am using two stamp sets from Heffy Doodle – first the Unbearable Without You set which has lots of fun crafty images. I white heat embossed the images onto my background and then created an ombre effect using my distress inks. I also added the SPIN ME message from the Interactively Yours stamp set – these images are so fun for interactive cards!

Did you know that you can stamp different expressions onto this cute bear? So on one side of the spinner is a sweet, concerned looking bear, and on the other side is a happy chappie with a paint brush tucked into his paws! I love tucking things into his paws – it makes this set so versatile!

The front of the card says I MISS YOU, and on the inside I have used some of the other sentiments that are included in this stamp set. I have decided to make it say ”I miss you.. so much that I can BEARLY craft!”. 🙂 teeehee!

When I had this card all finished, there was a left over piece of card with all the crafty supplies embossed onto it – and there was also some pink cardstock on my table – so I grabbed a pillow box die and some craft foam and decided to also make a coordinating box with a shaker panel on the front! I think this pillow box would be perfect for holding a small gift!

I used the same sequins (from Honey Bee Stamps) and the same colour scheme to make sure both projects matched nicely – but for the image I used a different bear that is in the Unbearable Without You set from Heffy Doodle.

I also added two of the smaller images from the Interactively Yours stamp set – one that says ‘SHAKE ME’ and one that says ‘I have a surprise inside!’ – aren’t they sweet?!

I hope you have enjoyed my projects and next up is the wonderful

Hello there,

I thought it was about time that i shared a ‘normal’ video tutorial with you guys! HAHA! If you are subscribed to my YouTube channel, you will have noticed a change over the last few months where I have been releasing less of the shorter 8-10 minute videos, and my content has been mostly the LIVE crafting sessions. (Which are super fun and you should definitely join in – Fridays at 9pm BST)

But today I have a shorter video which I hope you will all enjoy – one which you may have seen over on the Heffy Doodle Kickstarter page – and in the reveal videos too.

For this card I am showcasing the Elephant Of Surprise stamp set from Heffy Doodle, and I am also using a small image from the Interactively Yours stamp set – also from Heffy Doodle.

I start by stamping my cardstock to create a striped background using some Simon Says Stamp fog ink, and then die cut some circles using a SSS circle die. I grabbed some pattern paper, vellum and acetate before stamping and embossing the greeting onto the vellum – which would be inside the shaker window.

I also stick two dies together using some washi tape so I can cut out a frame as well as two pieces of craft foam which have had Stick-It adhesive adhered to both sides – this allows me to build up my shaker panel on the front of the card. I used some sequins from Lucy’s Cards – as I ADORE her sequin mixes so much!

The images I stamped using my MISTI and coloured with copic markers. I kept the colouring pretty simple, as I like the cutesy cartoon look that they give. I decided to add the sad little elephant on the front and then surround him with some of the cool accessories in the set.

For the inside of the card, I used the circle that was left over when I die cut my shaker frame – I thought it would be fun to add this to the inside. I also wanted to have an ACTUAL surprise on the inside – and I thought one of those action-wobblers would be perfect….unfortunately, I didn’t have any….

…But I am not the kinda girl that lets THAT stand in the way – so I show you in the video how I made my own easy-peasy action wobbler device! OH YEAH!

In case you were wondering, the blue embossing powder is from Cosmic Shimmer – and OH BOY does it shimmer! It has such a gorgeous pearly sheen – its just amazing!

Thank you guys so much for joining me today – please do leave a comment if you get a chance.

If you haven’t already, and are considering buying some Heffy Doodle stamps – head on over to the Kickstarter page which is currently the only place that you can get these products right now. PLUS you get a reduced price and there also lots of savings in the bundle packages.

AND.. before you go, I am participating in a HEFFY DOODLE blog hop on Saturday 15th July – so mark your calendars because it is going to be awesome! And of course there will be a prize to celebrate the hop! See you then!

Happy Crafting!

Lesley
