Hey crafty gang!

Last week I did an extra LIVE craft stream. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to give you guys warning, but when the urge strikes, the urge strikes! LOL.  I made a card for my nephew Luke, who has just started Uni. I remember when i started university, I was so flabbergasted about how much it cost to buy basic food. So instead of sending him a care package, I decided to send him a gift card for a grocery store. He can either buy food, snacks or drinkypoohs!

I thought it would be fun to create a background using lots of food images. I really wanted a beer tankard or beer bottle, but i had to make do with the wine bottle- haha! All the images in the background are from Heffy Doodle – and so is the panda….. well, kind of!

He is actually a bear from the Unbearable Without You stamp set – but I decided to stretch my stamps and colour him in like a panda. Massive thank you to Craig who googled a panda face to help me out in the middle of the LIVE stream – he kinda looked like a bandit at one point! 😀

The knife and fork are from a Lawn Fawn Party Animals set – aren’t they simply perfect! I then added a HELLO greeting which is from the Lawn Fawn Yay Kites set. I embossed it in blue and raised this up on a piece of die cut foam for lots of dimension!

Around the outside I added the Dotted Detail frame from Mama Elephant – I love that it is so fine and delicate – even though it can be a little tricky to work with at times.

On the inside, I tried to replicate the cool gift card holder die from Lawn Fawn. I used a folded piece of card, creased it and used a circle die to cut out a curved section. I love that this is a fun surprise when the card is opened! Also inside I added some stamping. The word ENJOY from Lawn Fawn Tiny Tags and the message below is from a Simon Says Stamp Bear Necessities stamp set.

There we have it! I hope Luke enjoys his surprise gift…. although I have just realised that it’s half term at the moment, so I better not post it until next week when he gets back on campus!

Thanks for stopping by, and i hope that you will join me for my regular LIVE crafting stream on Friday nights at 9pm UK time. You can watch LIVE on my youtube channel – youtube.com/hungryheffy – it’s lots of fun! DON’T FORGET – our clocks go back this weekend, which means us Brits are no longer on British Summer Time, but Greenwich Mean Time.

See you next time – where I will be showing you guys some sneaky peekies of the NEW Heffy Doodle Release! 😀

Ooops. I never posted close up photos of last week’s Come Craft With Me session! EEK! Quick… let’s do it now! 🙂

This crafty session was SO MUCH FUN! I managed to do three cards again – which is pretty good going for me – although I knew that the wedding card would take the longest, which is why the other two are pretty clean and simple. Great little projects for some of the beginner crafters that were watching the stream.

So if you don’t know what i’m talking about – let me explain. Every Friday night I have a YouTube LIVE crafting stream from 9pm BST – and it usually goes on for about 3 hours. I make a couple of projects usually, and try out different styles and techniques to keep it fun! I love interacting with the live viewers and we normally end up having lots of giggles! Subscribe to my YouTube, and turn on your notifications to make sure that you get a nudge when I go live.

So for this sesh, I knew that I had to make a commission piece – a wedding card using Lawn Fawn products. I had some ideas before starting out, so decided to start with some other CAS cards. First up, this cute bunny!

This card is for a friend of mine who is not very well at the moment. I stamped the word HUGS and then die cut the letters for BIG, and layered this onto a bright pink cardbase. I very rarely use coloured cardstock as a base, so this was a little outside the box for me. I added a bunny from the Mama Elephant lunar animals stamp set, and found a perfectly sweet message in a MFT stamps set, which I stamped in grey ink.

Next up it was ink blending time! I am so in love with blending my dye inks- but i kinda need more blending foam pads. (hmmm…Note to self!)

I am also in love with these bitty bears! So cute, huh!? I used rounded rectangle dies to cut four panels into my card, and blending some bright tones onto the card base.

Sorry this photo is decidely not in focus – but i couldn’t NOT share it. I love the blendywendywoo! I used a Simon says Stamp banner die to mount a greeting to the front.

Next up – the main event! The Lawn Fawn wedding card! 🙂

I hope you like it! I am so happy with how it turned out. I knew that I wanted to TRY to use the mermaid for you stamp set to create a little married couple. It was tricky to come up with an idea where they would not look like mermaids! LOL. But I did it!

In the middle I die cut a heart shape, and I actually added some glitter wrapping paper behind it. The gift paper I bought at Papersource earlier this year, and it was the perfect addition to make the heart pop.  The greeting is from the Fairy Friends set from Lawn Fawn, and I used some Liquid platinum embossing powder to emboss the greetting – it matches the glitter paper beautifully!

To carry the magical theme, I added a sweet fairy to the top of the card, and some little sparkles coming from her wand! I also added some sparkles with a glitter pen as well as embossing those diamond shapes.

For the bride and groom – there was a little tweaking required. I used a black pen to create a tuxedo on the groom, and also added some straps to the bride’s dress. If you look real hard, you will also see that there is a line across her belly that i covered with white gel pen, then I added sparkles with my glitter pen. I think I pulled it off! LOL.

SO there we go! Three more cards, and three more hours of awesome fun! Thank you to everyone who joined me for the Come Craft With Me show. I hope to see you at the next one – Friday evenings 9pm BST.

Happy crafting. x Lesley

Hello crafty friends!  I’m popping on to share a blog post about my last Come Craft With Me session. I know some people like to watch from the blog rather that fetch it over at YouTube.

Every Friday night I turn on my webcam and invite you all to Come Craft With Me. I tend to get inky, make a few creations and have lots of fun interacting with all the lovely viewers that watch LIVE. If you think you would enjoy it – come on over to my YouTube, subscribe and turn on your notifications so you get a nudge when I go Live.

This week I was working on a commission for a crafty friend Tamara.  She, like me, is a big Lawn Fawn fan, and she asked me to make a halloween card and a Christmas card using Lawn Fawn. You know me…. mission accepted!

Et Voila! 😀 Here is the halloweeny card! I knew that I wanted to turn this sweet fox from the Lawn Fawn party animal stamp set into a bat – or rather, into a flying fox. I masked off his tail (and showed you a great tip on how to get fab results when masking) and coloured him in with copics.

The wings were more challenging but I knew i could make them work. I was envisioning batmans wings – and so I used my Simon Says Stamp circle dies to cut out the wings. Once I had done one, I used it as a guide to create a somewhat similarly shaped second wing.

This was the point where I had an epiphany – what if I could make the wings move!!? How COOL would that be! I had no idea at the start, but the gears were turning, and I decided to give it a try. But first – i needed a background. I used some distress ink and distress oxide ink to create a background – I also used a cloud border die to cut myself a stencil so i could build that cloudy effect.  I then use circle dies to cut out my channel for the slider mechanisms.

To finish the card I added some vellum to the bottom with a Happy Halloween message from Clearly Besotted, and added a Mama Elephant Dotted Details border around my project. I used my glaze pen to darken the eyes and nose of my critter as well as add lines to his lovely wings! SPOOKTACULAR!

Card two – CHRISTMAS! I decided to do something a bit different so I inked up my own candy stripe background. I used some narrow washi tape across my card front, and inked it up with worn lipstick and festive berries distress inks. I splattered it with a little perfect pearls in water for that distressed pearly sheen!

I thought it would be fun to do a shaker card using the Mama Elephant dotted detail frame -but its soooooooo fragile. So i had to use small shaky bits – i chose the Ice Chips embellishments from Honey Bee Stamps. I layered some vellum and acetate in my shaker, added some trees (that I had actually previously stamped a few weeks back – from the Loveable Legends stamp set) and also added a hilly landscape border. I also managed to heat emboss a greeting onto the acetate without melting everything! YAY ME!

I contemplated adding some more text to the bottom, but instead I went for a friend for the reindeer. He is from the Party Animals stamp set, and his penguin pal (and the gifts) are from the Toboggan Together set. I think they look like they are having some festive funtimes!

That’s it folks! Only two cards tonight – but two rather beefy ones, that turned out lovely. I hope Tamara likes her commissioned cards!

Don’t forget to join me next Friday for more Come Craft With Me!
