Birthday Butterflies

Taking a little hiatus from my Miss You Monday posts this week to share a card that I made for my Mumsy’s birthday. ♥

My mum is one of the kindest, generous, most genuine people that I have ever met. she is the epitome of selflessness and has always been an inspiration to me throughout my life.

I only wish that I lived closer to her, because some days I just want to wrap my arms around her, especially recently when morning sickness has been making some days a little miserable.

This card I made especially for her. First I stamped my favourite butterfly image from Hero arts, then masked the image to create the background. I used an elegant flourish stamp from Unity Stamps KOTM to create a repeated pattern, and blended some colour into the background using dried marigold and scattered straw distress ink. To add a bit of sparkle I sprayed the card with bronze glimmer mist, which gives a beautiful pearlescent sheen.

Next I stamped another butterfly and coloured it using an ink blending tool and broken china and dusty concord, then used glossy accents to give an enamelled finish to the wings. Once dried, I bent the card to create some artistic cracks. Then I adhered only the butterfly body to the card so the wings add dimension to the card.

All that was needed was to emboss a greeting and round some corners with my corner chomper.

woooo.

Happy Birthday Mumsy.

Love the Butterfly Les, very effective. I am sure your Mum whishes you were closer too especially now. It’s a shame you can not be closer but you have to go where the work is unfortunately. Keep well and Keep crafting.
