MYM: Mousey Mothers' day card

Hi everyone,
It’s time for another Miss You Monday Card for Sarah. When I started making this card, I knew I wanted it to be a Mothers’ Day card, but in the end, I’ve not added any text to the outside to make it specifically for this holiday, so I guess it could be used for any occasion. Sometimes my brain goes in a different direction at the last minute, and I want to write my own message on the inside.

I’m not exactly sure the proper name of this style of card, but i’ve been calling them tent cards (for the obvious reason). I love the way it stands up, and the fact that you can make a topper that overlaps the top, which really makes an impact.

I am feeling the need to move onto more summery colours, so I have left my pastel colours to the side for now and explored with some bright, bold colours including this flowery print paper from DCWV which gives a burst of energy to the project. ♥ ZING!

The gorgeous mouse stamp is from the Penny Black ‘hugs’ stamp set, and I’ve coloured the image using distress inks and a watercolour brush pen – this really is a must have for the craft box! The pattern paper is from DCWV adhesive mat stack, the polka dot paper is from Wild Rose Studios, and the white scallop is cut using scalloped scissors on some scrap white card stock. The blue circular image is from my April 2010 Unity Kit Of The Month {love it ♥}. I’ve also used my nesties and my cuttlebug to cut the label shape. To finish, just a few blue buttons from my stash. I just can’t keep my fingers outta those button jars!

And before I shoot off – a couple of shout outs: A very happy birthday to Sister-in-Law Karyn, Dad Oman and brother-in-law Steven who are all celebrating birthdays today! Happy Birthday you three! ♥

Thanks for popping by.
