'Live Life' Scrapbook Layout, Using Bisous PDQ paper

I love this paper, and although it was tempting to cover the blocks of patterns with one large photo, or a series of smaller ones, I really wanted to make a page that didn’t take away from this great design and the way in which the blocks of pattern really compliment each other. So I decided to do something I rarely do – scrap without photos.

There are mixed opinions on scrapping without photos. Some find it easy, others find it difficult, some think it should be called ‘journaling’ rather than ‘scrapbooking’…I call it a challenge! I spoke a little about my scrapping process in my PDQ review post, and how I usually I start with a photo when I am scrapping. So if I choose not to include a photo, where do I start?
I didn’t find it difficult at all to make this layout ‘sans photo‘. I was inspired by the colours and wanted to harness this feeling, and pin it to a page so I could return to it when I am lacking in inspiration.

Live Life
I decided to make take the four corner panels of the set of nine blocks, and turn them into little doors. This way I can also add a little bit of interactive fun to my layout, which is always fun to do. I also came up with a great way to keep these doors shut when they are not in a protective sleeve.

Using a small circle punch, punch out two circles from black cardstock. Take a strip of double sided sticky tape, and lay the circle onto it so that the tape is only covering one half of the circle. Cut away the tape around the circle using scissors. Peel away the protective covering of the tape and stick the circle unto the flap of the door, with the non-sticky half of the circle over hanging the edge. Repeat with another circle and stick on the back of the door flap, making sure the circles are lined up exactly. This way you can tuck one circle behind the cardstock and leave one on top to ensure the flap stays closed when you want it to, and can still be easily opened when you want to display the interior.

Journaling reads:
How could you live your life looking at a door and not open it?

Door 1: Dream Big
(Inside reads) To accomplish great things, we must not only act but also dream

Door 2: Conquer Fear
(Inside reads) You can conquer almost any fear if you only make up your mind to do so. For remember, fear does not exist anywhere except in the mind

Door 3: Create inspiration, do art
(inside reads) Life is short. So do not waste your time doing something that you do not love.

Door 4: Believe in yourself
(inside reads) Nobody can make you feel inferior with out your consent.
