Pennants are so very ‘in’ right now! They have taken the crafting world by storm, especially with the arrival of the ‘dear Lizzy’ line from American Crafts, which is simply adorable. From the Dear Lizzy line, I love this, this and this especially. YUM!
Also, I am super excited about the fact that this months Unity KOTM has a lovely Pennant stamp. I simply can’t wait for it to arrive through my door.
One of the main reasons I love pennants {apart from the fact that they remind me of village fairs} is that you can create a beautiful design element for your cards by simply using scraps. I’m sure i’ve said it many times, but i have a tub full of odd scraps of paper. Some are pattern paper, some is plain, some stamped images, some remnants of ribbon etc, but every so often I feel the urge to create something using these remnants.
This card started in such a way, I choose a few pieces of colourful scraps from my tub and cut out triangles. I didn’t worry if they were the exact same size, in fact i wanted a little bit of variety to give a quirky edge. Even the bluey-green panel and pink border strip were scraps which had been forgotten for goodness knows how long. And the funny thing is: I totally love this card! I hope Sarah will love it too!
So go on, give those scraps a new lease of life! – Go create cards or scrapbook pages using remnants of your stash to make beautiful, whimsical pennants!! I dare ya!
