Hmmm…Hot Cocoa & Marshmallows

Hey everyone,

Halloween is outta the way now and i’m still trying to convince Craig that it’s nearly Christmas! He’s not yet ready to admit it, but with each and every shop that we go into that has an array of Crimbo products, I figure it can’t be long until he realises that its true! After all, we have entered Red Cup season as far as Starbucks is concerned! Mmmm… I do love Gingerbread lattes so I always wait with anticipation for the red cup release day.

So today’s project is inspired by two things. Firstly, y’know that feeling that you get when its cold outside and your hands are numb and your nose is red, then you get a cup of hot coffee or hot cocoa between your hands and as you inhale the sweet aroma, you are instantly filled with complete gratification. {Yip, I was inspired by a feeling, i’m weird I know!} The second inspiration starting point was the Card Candy embellishments by Craftwork Cards. I bought a pack of pink and brown Card Candy ages ago (and yes, i still have loads, they totally last AGES!) and I realised that this colour combo pack has the cutest name: ‘ Choc and Mashmallow’.

So it’s easy to join the dots and see why this card turned out the way it did!

I didn’t have a template for the cup shape, so I just drew it freehand, and had lots of fun making the whipped cream using DecoArts Snow Writer and then I sprinkled the card candy on top! My original plan was to put the greeting on the outside of the card, but it ended up covering too much of the cup of cocoa, so I transformed this project from a standard card into an easel card. The biggest challenge I faced when making this project was waiting for the Snow Writer to dry! I’m so impatient and it looked good enough to eat and I just couldn’t wait to finish the card! HAHA!
