When I look at this card, I think it reminds me of the patchwork applique that my Granny used to make. I wanted to use pinks and greens from the MME Quite Contrary range, as I love the way these colours work together. I bought the 6×6 paper pad ages ago and it’s nearly finished because I keep finding the colours and patterns so versatile.
As a main focal element for this card I wanted a monogram J, but rather than worry too much about it being exact, I simply cut out the letter freehand using a craft knife. Although its not 100% perfect, i think it gives a whimsical feel – plus I think this also means that it looks more handmade as well.
To create the stitching, I used my trusty white gel pen – i love this pen, it’s definitely a staple tool in my craft box.
The little bug is a Stampin’ Up stamp from the Garden Whimsy collection, which was a perfect fit considering Juliet is more often than not referred to as Julebug.
A sweet little card for a sweet little girl. I just can’t believe she is one already!
