Owl Miss You: A Personalised Owl Theme Card For Jenny

Twooo-whit-twoooo-wooooooo

That’s owl speak for hey everyone!

Today’s project is this cute owl card. It was for a sweet girl who came to do work experience with us during the summer. We really do miss her loads, she was awesome!

This was one of my first chances to play with some new supplies that i got back from the USA when hubby was over there. I stocked up on 6×6 paper pads and here i’ve made papers from 3 different collections work well together. I am loving this colour combo, i think it looks really fresh!

To make the body of the owl I made myself a handcut template using printer paper, folded in half to ensure our friend here would turn out symmetrical. Once I had cut out his body from the yellow printed paper, I cut into the template so i had a belly shape which I made from the blue stripy paper.

His eyes are made using spellbinders dies, a couple of different circle type ones layered up with buttons on top – three in fact, pink, white and black, all three are buttons from my stash.

For his feet i cut short, narrow strips of brown cardstock and rounded off the edges, then stuck three beside each other to create little claws gripping onto a branch.

The greeting is from one of my all time favourite stamp sets from Personal Impressions (They are so darn versatile! love ’em!), and the scalloped circle is a non-branded clear stamp from a local craft shop, stamped with Distress ink. I also used the ink blending tool to add a little blue colour to the outer edge of mister owl.

I am also loving these veneer hearts from Studio Calico. I am using them on lots of projects just now. They add the perfect finishing touch.

Look who came to check out mister owl and give him a nudge of approval. Aww, look at those pretty little furry toes. ♥

{p.s. no MANday Monday tomorrow. Weekend crafting was cancelled due to an unscheduled hospital visit. Nothing serious thankfully}
