Mermaid Surprise! An Interactive card with Lawn Fawn & Copics {video}

Hello Everyone! I hope you are having an awesome week!

Imagine for a moment that you remember when your sister had her baby boy. You remember the way you felt, the way he smelled of baby powder, the things you were doing when you heard the news! You know, when you have so many memories of that time, you can immerse yourself into that moment of life again. Then imagine the feeling you get when you realise its his EIGHTEENTH birthday! oh my! THAT is whats going on in my life right now! Happy Birthday Lukey! xoxo

I shared a sneak peek video of this card on instagram and it got lots of love, so I wanted to share the full video tutorial with you guys! It features the new awesome ‘Mermaid for you‘ stamp set from Lawn Fawn.

This new stamp set goes great with the Critters of the Sea set that I already had in my stash, and well… its mermaids! Everyone loves mermaids! right?

I wanted to have something different. To find a way to make the mermaid swim in the sea. At first I thought of a shaker card – maybe a mermaid on shrink plastic or something, but then I had an idea! Don’t you love it when that happens! I don’t know if I have mad engineering skills, or if I am just too stubborn to give up, but guess what – I made it work!

First off, the card look like this – a sweet underwater scene! Awww, nice!

and if you open the card at this point, you will see that there is a little mermaid inside.Peek-a-boo!

but the real magic is when you put your finger on top of the underwater scene, your thumb on the mermaid and…..slide!

ooohhhhhhh!

When I showed this to my husband (the traditional “look-what-i-made-hunny-do-you-like-it?” conversation), he couldn’t keep his hands of it! He kept spinning that mermaid round and round the card! I think he liked it! πŸ˜€

You can’t really get the full effect from photos so be sure to check out the video!

Thanks for stopping by, and Happy Crafting, friends!
