Hang In There Friend – Mixing Old & New Stamp Sets

One of the things I like to do every now and again is mix my new products with older products. Sometimes I am so amazed at how much more mileage you can get out of your stamps this way. Today I am sharing a card that features the Curious Kitties stamps and die set released in February this year, with an older (but still so amazing) stamp set called Special Delivery to create a fun scene.

At first I thought that i would have the little kitty hanging off the mailbox so I could use the sweet Hang In There Friend sentiment from the new Blah Blah Blah set, but my design changed a little as I went along! haha!

To start I stamped the mailbox, birdies and a bunch of envelopes from the Special Delivery set and then stamped this sweet cat from the Curious Kitties set. I coloured them all with copic markers and cut them out. I love the way the Curious Kitties dies cut around the tail which is so tricky to get perfect with scissors!

I have been really enjoying playing with bright colours recently, so decided to add a little rainbow ink blending to my card to ground the design. I used a strip of post it tape to mask off my card, leaving an exposed strip of about an inch at the bottom. Next using my mini blending foam tools and some distress ink, I added colour all the way along the bottom edge – overlapping the colours slightly to get a nice blend! Afterwards I gave it a spritz with water to get a distressed look!

To add a little texture I used a border die to add some faux stitching just above the inked section, and then stuck all my elements in place using glue dots. Can you see that I used my craft knife to cut a little slit in the mailbox so I could tuck some envelopes inside it! So fun! To finish the card, I chose this sentiment from the Blah Blah Blah set and to bring a little more colour to it, I used a BG10 Cool Shadow Copic marker to add a little shading around the letters. It’s pretty subtle, but it is a fun way to make your greetings pop!

Enjoy your day, and I will see you next week!
