Hey everyone. Today you will see two more pages of my ‘Home is where the heart is’ mini album. If you haven’t seen the other pages, be sure to check out my recent posts which are listed on the right hand side of the home page.

This page was inspired by a beautiful scrapbook page in the Crave line from Bisous. It had a sunburst style element printed as part of the design and I had the idea that each of the rays of light could be changed slightly so they look like houses. So once the paper was stuck firmly to the chipboard I measured and cut out little roofs and doorways to make the houses more recognisable.

The design on this paper already had bright contrasting colours and wonderful cute little designs to embellish such as the green stars on the black background at the very top, which resemble stars in a night-time sky. So, all in all, it didn’t take very long to make this page as most of the hard work was already done for me, but I did have a mental struggle when it came to the journaling.

My problem was that the main feature of the page was right in the middle of the page- the houses. I tried to figure out if I could just journal around it but decided it wouldn’t be enough room. So out came the journaling strips again, this time in a really bright orange to coordinate with the other bright colours in the back ground. Although these span the whole page top to bottom, you can still see the background design so I was happy with the end result.

Notice the frame? This was the leftover bits from a sheet of label stickers which I received in a Scrap Swap from another member of the Paperclipping audience. Once all the labels were used, I cut around the leftover sticker paper in a rectangle shape to make a fancy frame. This is a great way to make your products last, take a good long look at all the things you throw away in your craft room to see if you can repurpose them in a layout or project.

In this instance the frame was white, and really too clean against the other colours, so I dirtied it up with some ink, and accentuated the edges by adding some fake stitching with a pen. Add some Making Memories Cheeky Shimmer numbers stickers and some buttons and hey presto – another finished page in my Home book in just a few minutes! So after the journaling, lets move on to the next page….

Journaling reads
It almost felt more like a drop-in hotel rather than a home with so many lodgers coming and going throughout our 18 month stay here. First Daniel & Caroline, then Jer & Sar, then of course Clive-o. I must admit, having them around made it a lot more fun as most of our time was spent working extra hard for our final year of Uni. Our lives definately changed when we were in this flat. Crafting became more serious for me, we both graduated, you proposed (and I said yes!) and of course this was our last home in Bonnie Scotland. 🙁

Yes, I know – A completely different colour palate again! In comparison to the previous page ‘Number 90’, these blues and greens add a little touch of softness and romance – which was exactly the idea, especially if you take a moment to read the last written line of the journaling!

The main element of this page started out being the lovely big Prima blossom and Laura Ashley fabric brad (from Trimcraft ) at the top left of the page, which leads the eye to the address and then to the start of the journaling. To carry the viewers attention I wanted to add another two elements to create a visual triangle. So out came the chipboard stash and I found two perfect elements, a frame and an element which reads ‘imagine’ (which I’m afraid didn’t come out very well in the photo). Add some Heidi Swapp chipboard letters and Boom!

We did it! We moved to England. Opened doors of opportunity. You got to work for NT, and me, a craft demonstrator! With a real-life craft room no less! In truth, I wasn’t overly happy in this flat, but all in all there were some great memories too….Watching BSG on the sofabed, queueing for HP7 and reading it in one day! Threatening to ‘yoink!’ Mr M & Tippy (or should I say jessica?!?!) The first big furniture trip to IKEA and making hundreds of invitations for our special day
Our first home as man & wife!

This was a nice home. It was a fresh start. Just the two of us (mostly). Two bedrooms. A nice big living room – plenty of room to entertain and also to work and play. This flat will always hold a special place in my heart because this is was the first place that really felt like a couple’s home, rather than a student flat. Because of this soppy element, I wanted to add a touch of delicacy, and the cream lace worked perfectly and makes this design look quite chic. I chose the pinks and greens as these fresh colours symbolised (to me) a fresh start, a new beginning, the start of our future together – a bright future.

Journaling reads:
This was our first taste of living together alone – at least until Daniel & Caroline moved in for the summer. It was definately tough commuting through to Uni for those 9am lectures, but it was worth it! We felt like a real family: with our seamonkeys as pets, New Years Day dinner party & our first real holiday away – Gran Cranaria. This flat was also the birth place of “three fours & a King” and where the infamous ‘San Andreas day’ took place. Good times!!

Thanks for looking!

As soon as I saw this paper in the DCWV ‘all dressed up’ stack I instantly fell in love with it.  The subtle tones of blues and greens work well together and the swirly flourish pattern adds a feminine touch to a traditionally more masculine colour palate – not to mention the glamour that oozes from this pre-glittered paper.  I covered the chipboard with this beautiful paper whilst ooh-ing and aah-ing and then suddenly, I cringed!  How could I add embellishments to this page without taking away from the design that I loved so much?

After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, and more hmm-ing and ahh-ing, this finished page is one of my favourites in the whole book.  I used little epoxy stickers from the Brenda Walton Small Wonders line from K & Co to spell out the street name and a velour monogram sticker from the DCWV Christmas speciality sticker stack to frame and highlight the first letter of the word. The soft texture of this sticker contrasts with the glossy finish of both the green scalloped chipboard circle frame underneath (from Bisous) and also the shiny glittery parts on the paper. Being the tactile person that I am, I love the addition of texture, and wanted more, more, more. So along came the fabric ‘moxie fab stickers’ from Making Memories (with a quick and easy rub on adhered on top), and a vinyl thickers sticker from American Crafts.  I hope you like this page too. Thanks for looking and come back tomorrow to see the next house in my life.

Journaling reads:

A different flat –  different flat mate! Living with Pickle was a challenge @ times – with his ‘funny’ T-shirts, his milk obsession & opinionated views! Still, I did enjoy those evenings @ the pub watching Roddy Hart & Palamino play live. I must confess my fondest memory of Annbank Street is that it was in this flat that I first started to Scrapbook & make cards. It all started with one small box of supplies!!
