Card Making

Two more cards today to share, cards which were designed for Bisous, using their fantablous collections of paper. I had so much fun playing with their products, they are great quality, and the designs set the creative juices flowing. So if you haven’t spied any Bisous products yet, head on over to their website and check out them out – make sure to keep your eye out for yours truly!

The first is a new home card and was inspired by a little arrow shape on the paper that made me think of a house. So I went with the idea, and this was the finished product.

The second is an anniversary card, and I have used one of pages from Bisous’s PDQ (Pretty Darn Quick) journalling block as a tag. I did a bit of trickery on this one as the tag actually had the heart design at the top of the journaling block instead of the bottom, where I wanted it to be. So with a mentality inspired by my good friend Noell Hyman over at Paperclipping.com, I thought “everything is fixable”. So I neatly took a craft knife and cut around the design in a rectangle, leaving the narrow border of the tag in place. Then I popped out the design, turned it around and stuck a few address labels on the underside to stick it to the frame and hold everything in place. Now tell me honestly, would you have known that if I hadn’t told you?

Who’s the kissing couple you ask? Well it is me and my other half on our wedding day. I played with the photo in photoshop to create a black and white image to print onto the tag. When I had it perfect I printed this onto white copy paper, and then stuck the tag onto the copy paper in the exact spot using masking tape. It is so worthwhile and rewarding when you get the picture or text in the exact place you want it, so you should give it a try. Be sure to tape all the way around the tag though, or the printer carriage might catch on it and rip the edges. Eeeeek!

Thanks for looking.

Bear Anniversary Card

Two things to share today.

First this card I made with the lovely jubbly hero arts stamps that arrived in the post yesterday. I was feeling a little self indulgent a few weeks back as I got a little extra money in my pay packet as commission, so I figured I would visit twopeasinabucket.com and buy some of the hero arts stamps I’ve been drooling over in the videos by Kristina Werner and of course Jennifer Maguire’s ‘thinking inking’ videos. You should check out the videos at their websites.

My challenge: create an anniversary card for Andie to give to her husband as they celebrate their first year of marriage this weekend. Congratulations Andie and Ben.

The second thing I wanted to share is that fellow crafter and scrapbook extraordinaire Amy Coon has started a new venture over on her blog which she is calling Amy’s Paper Spotlight. Each week Amy will introduce us to a friendly face from the Scrapbooking community; names we recognise, new faces, the people behind the crafty companies we know and love and many many more. Each week there will also be a give away from those who are featured, and all you need to do is leave a comment to win! So if you fancy getting to know more brilliant and talented people in our scrapbooking community, and also be in for a chance to win some more goodies, then you better head over to AmysPaperLife website and check out Amy’s first give away competition. You can also follow Amy on twitter here.

And GUESS WHAT – I am absolutely delighted that little old me is going to feature on the much coveted Amy’s Paper Spotlight in early November and all i’m saying is that I already have a bundle of goodies ready for the giveaway prize, so watch this space! And thank you Amy for giving me a slot, I promise I will have lots of inspiring layouts to share with everyone.

So everyone…go…go visit Amyspaperlife and bookmark her blog so you can visit every week for inspiration, education and hopefully lots of elation (because you might win the prizes! hee hee)

I love love love love love LOVE my Cuttlebug.

I’ve got a Quickutz Squeeze and I adore it, but now that I am scrapping more than making cards, it was a teeny weeny bit frustrating that I was limited to small shapes that would fit on a 2×2 inch die. I wasn’t fussed on the Sizzix, was slightly tempted by the Big Kick by Elllison, but I kept on hearing great things about the Cuttlebug by Provocraft. I watched videos on YouTube, I read reviews, I asked crafty friends, and no one seemed to have a bad word to say about the little green machine.

So I just went for it. I’ve only had my bug for a few weeks, and my selection of dies are very limited but I am loving him already. The best thing by far are the embossing folders. They give such a crisp image that can be sanded, inked and much more, and Provocraft have just announced the release of 5 x 7 folders, an even bigger size which will cover the entire front of a standard notecard, rather than having to trim a fraction of an inch of the side as with the original sized folders.

My favourite folder by far is the Swiss dots, but unfortunately I don’t have any samples to show you, because this folder is soooo popular that by the time I clicked BUY, the store had sold out. Grrrrr. So I will have to keep on trying.

To try out my new purchase, I made some cute little notecards using this luscious line of papers from Crate Paper.

I love the colours and the designs, as they compliment each other so well. So here are my creations, I hope you like them.
