Card Making

Hello everyone! And Happy Weekend!

I just love furry friends! I guess you might already know that because a lot of my cards feature furry critters! ๐Ÿ™‚ What you might not know is that we cannot have fur-babies in our house because my daughter suffers from eczema and has a super bad allergies. We had to unfortunately re-home our kitty about 2 years ago, and re-carpet the whole house to try to minimize the left over dander. So, no furry pets for us!

I did hope that I might be able to have some craft rats…some ratty friends that lived in the craft room, but the temperature fluctuates too much in there, so i don’t think it would work out for the little guys. I shall have to stick to stamped critters!

And, these little guys, from the Mama Elephant Lunar Animals set are A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E!

I made the background using some distress ink, on some cheap watercolour paper. I actually bought the paper for water colouring, but i really didn’t like the texture when painting with a brush, so figured i would just use it up on my cards! ๐Ÿ™‚

I coloured the images using some watercolour paints – it only takes a few minutes because they are so small…but OH SO CUTE!! <3

On the grey mouse, i used a craft knife to trip around his hands so he could be holding on to the edge of his cheese!

The greeting was a little bit of a challenge. The word ‘birthday’ is from the big scripty words stamp set from Lawn Fawn – a new arrival in my stash! ๐Ÿ™‚ I am loving the size of these stamps – so perfect!
For the rest of the greeting, I had to use imagesย from two different lawn fawn stamp set to mix-and-match the letters and get the greeting i wanted!

Thanks of joining me, and be sure to give me a thumbs up on the video if you enjoy it! Feel free to subscribe for more crafty goodness!

Have a great day

Hey everyone! I hope you are having a Happy Weekend!

I am a happy crafter because I got some awesome happy mail and I have been working on a few projects for the #HoneyBeeStamps blog. I hope you will join me this week when I share the whole project but for now, a sneaky peeky to whet your appetite!

I am so excited to be on the Design team! And, whats more, there is a full team of really awesome crafters that I know you will love! I stand amongst a super talented bunch! ๐Ÿ˜€ You can read more about everyone in the HoneyBeeStamps design team by visiting this blog post! And this is what our little hive looks like! {pssst…thats me, beneath the bumblebee!} What an awesome family of crafty bees!

But for today, I want to share a card that I made using the Mama Elephant Unicorns and Rainbows stamp set.

In the stamp set (which is super awesome by the way), there are two little teeny weeny fairies. They are so cute, but due to their petite size, I was using the other images in the stamp set more. I thought i would challenge myself to make a card where these cuties were the stars of the show!

The design of the card is pretty simple, but i love the final results. The inlaid die cutting technique was perfect to create a one-layer background, but with a fun twist due to the cloud shapes and hints of colour. I love the way the soft distress ink colours brings a sweetness to the card!

I wanted to add a little magic, and the star droplet image was a perfect little touch, mixed with some liquid platinum embossing powder. I even added a little holographic embossing powder over a snow stamp that i stamped behind the fairies…but you cannot really see it on camera.

It felt like ages since i made a square card… i really must make some more soon!

I’m posting on the #HoneyBeeStamps blog on Monday, so please join me there! But for now, here’s the video tutorial for today’s card!

Have a great weekend, and happy crafting!!

Hello Everyone! I hope you are having an awesome week!

Imagine for a moment that you remember when your sister had her baby boy. You remember the way you felt, the way he smelled of baby powder, the things you were doing when you heard the news! You know, when you have so many memories of that time, you can immerse yourself into that moment of life again. Then imagine the feeling you get when you realise its his EIGHTEENTH birthday! oh my! THAT is whats going on in my life right now! Happy Birthday Lukey! xoxo

I shared a sneak peek video of this card on instagram and it got lots of love, so I wanted to share the full video tutorial with you guys! It features the new awesome ‘Mermaid for you‘ stamp set from Lawn Fawn.

This new stamp set goes great with the Critters of the Sea set that I already had in my stash, and well… its mermaids! Everyone loves mermaids! right?

I wanted to have something different. To find a way to make the mermaid swim in the sea. At first I thought of a shaker card – maybe a mermaid on shrink plastic or something, but then I had an idea! Don’t you love it when that happens! I don’t know if I have mad engineering skills, or if I am just too stubborn to give up, but guess what – I made it work!

First off, the card look like this – a sweet underwater scene! Awww, nice!

and if you open the card at this point, you will see that there is a little mermaid inside.Peek-a-boo!

but the real magic is when you put your finger on top of the underwater scene, your thumb on the mermaid and…..slide!

ooohhhhhhh!

When I showed this to my husband (the traditional “look-what-i-made-hunny-do-you-like-it?” conversation), he couldn’t keep his hands of it! He kept spinning that mermaid round and round the card! I think he liked it! ๐Ÿ˜€

You can’t really get the full effect from photos so be sure to check out the video!

Thanks for stopping by, and Happy Crafting, friends!
