Card Making

rainbow_bunny_cu1
Hello everyone!

It’s nearly the end of another weekend! I don’t know about you, but i think i need a day between Sunday and Monday so i can squeeze in more crafting (and more laundry too i reckon).

Today I want to share a video of a card that i kinda L-O-V-E! I’m not sure why i have fallen in love with it – maybe its the bright colours, or the crisp lines between stark white areas and the vibrant painted patches, or maybe it’s the cute bunny that sets it off! This little guy is going to sit on my sideboard for a little while longer so i can admire him a bit more. He makes me happy!

There was a slight technical glitch with this video…technically i messed up and either didn’t video the start OR accidentally deleted the start- whoops! But i just made the background again on camera, and the good news is that i get to make another one of these sweet cards! YAY!

Enjoy the video!

Hey everyone!
It has been a super busy few weeks in our household and I wanted to share some cards with you guys, because I never got a chance to finish editing the latest HungryHeffyCrafts video. Don’t worry, i’m sure it will be ready this weekend! 🙂

Have you seen the Mama Elephant lunar animal stamp set? Oh, its adorable! It’s not uber new – i think it was released a few months back, but as soon as i saw it, i had to have it! I just love that there are LOADS of cute little animal critters! They are so adorable, and perfect for colouring in. 🙂

I set myself a challenge to create a set of cards using this stamp, and so i stamped one of each critter and grabbed my copic markers!

A fun way to make a collection, or a pack of cards is to focus on a simple repeated design – and so that is what i did here. I used a stitched square die from SSS to cut out a simple panel into the card front, and then built a scene within the frame.

There was also lots of room on the right to add a greeting- and of course, i had to go for some puns! I used the Milo’s ABCs stamp set from Lawn Fawn for this – it’s skinny width was perfect for even the longer greetings! This is one of my favourite alpha stamps. It wasn’t easy coming up with puns for all the animals though- but i did get some help from friends via Facebook! lol

SO get ready for lots of photos, here comes what I am calling ‘The Lunar Collection’.

woo…lots of photos! Which is your favourite? I think the teal puppy is really cute, and the chicken turned out sweet too i think!

To add variety, I mixed in a little ink blending and patter paper, and i even used a copic multi liner to add some tweaks to some stamped images- like the mouth on the last doggy card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Sunday everyone! As promised, today I am sharing another card featuring the Chibitronic LEDs – fun little lights that you can incorporate into your cards to make them super special!

This time I used a yellow LED as a shooting star -and these two bunnies from the Mama Elephant Honey Bunny stamp set was the perfect image to set the scene, and the stars are from the Unicorns & Rainbows Stamp set, also from Mama Elephant.

I got down and dirty with my distress ink for this one, but I really enjoy creating night time scenes as I think they look awesome! So at the end of the night when my fingers are black with inkiness – I just remind myself that its all worth it! 🙂

To colour the bunnies I used my distress inks with a water brush to ‘paint’ the image. I love the way this looks on cards -and its a fairly quick process which is an added bonus!

The trickiest part of this card was of course the circuit. It takes a little practice, but I am getting much quicker now, and I have picked up some tricks along the way! 🙂 In this card I used a post it note to create the switch mechanism, and it was much easier than sticking down a piece of paper because i could move it about if i needed to.

I decided to make the button a lot more subtle on this card… no ‘press me’ or ‘push’ buttons at all. Even the LED is fairly subtle… I was thinking that it would be fun to put a message in the inside to make it more obvious – maybe ‘give the bunnies a hug’ or ‘squeeze the bunnies’. That way it would be an even bigger surprise for the recipient!

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the video!

If you like this card, you might want to check out these other cards which also have LEDs in them – I Lava You and Winter Fox. We are off to a May Fair, to have hotdogs, ice-cream and lots of fun! But before I go, I wanted to share a sneaky peeky of a home decor project I am working on. It’s so cute I could scream!! CIAO!
