MAN-day Monday

Just look at this allymagator!  My friend Lindsey gave me a bag of unused craft supplies that she bought in the states and hiding in that stash was a pack of stickers was this lil’ guy. He’s here today holding a balloon to say happy birthday to my adorable nephew Josh!

Happy Birthday Joshua! I can’t believe you are 6 already! Where has the time gone to? I remember planning a trip back to Northern Ireland so I could be there for your birth, but you had other ideas and stayed in mummy’s belly for longer. I remember the first time i held you in my arms. I remember blowing raspberries on your belly and making you laugh. I remember you being at our wedding, and even though you were barely walking you gave us two cute little bears. Now you’re going into Primary 2! Such a big little dude!

Lindsey gave me the letter stickers too. They didn’t have a brand name but i wish they did because they are really  cute. They are an excellent size and i love that they are dimensional. The only shame is that there was only one of each letter in the pack so its a little limiting. Here’s a closer look at mister alligator.

Thanks for stopping by for another MANday Monday. x

MANday Monday: U Rule

Okay, confession. This card is actually for a girl but the colour combo and graphic style means that it would totally work for a guy too, which is why I’m sharing it on today’s MANday Monday.

I’ve been wanting a ruler stamp for ages, as I keep seeing lots of cool projects using the stamped image. Finally I picked one up and I’m getting a chance to play with it.
Being a master of all puns, of course I wanted to have a greeting that says ‘you rule’ , what fun!
I went for a tone-on-tone look using craft cardstock, but with a little twine to make the design pop a bit more.

I cut the letters out using a Quickutz die set- I would have liked a different font but this was the only one big enough so I had to make do. Maybe one day I’ll buy myself a silhouette machine so I can cut out any font I like.

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy MANday Monday!

Today is a double whammy. My neighbour requested that I made a Christening card for her wee Grandson Albie but she also wanted me to put writing on a gift she bought him. Look: —>

Its a box that holds the certificate and also has a photo book built in to the lid. Its really pretty, and I thought the best way to add writing would be to design a insert to go into the framed section. So I spent a few hours this week playing with some digi scrapping. All the of papers used were freebies from various sources. (I never really do digi, so as a hindsight i realised that i should have taken a note of what all i used. Sorry. If you really want to know who they are from please drop me a message and I will go through all my supplies and figure out which ones i have used here)

Here it is close up, what do you think?

I don’t do a lot of digi scrapping -the last thing i made was Piper’s birthday invitation back in March. It is fun, but i think i would still rather play with real paper.

I wanted the card to coordinate with the design of the box, so I used a white base and used blues and black/ brown trims. Take a look…

I had printed out one of the digi cards that was too small for the frame in the box, so I had the idea to reuse some of the elements from that like the name frame and his cute little photo {just look at that smooshy lil face!}. I also printed the text ‘to a special grandson’ and ‘on your christening day’ from the computer just so i could get these just right. This way I can coordinate the colours and size and the perfect wording too. As I already had the computer out in the craft room it was easy enough to do this.

The black text paper is old. So very old. It has been my staple go-to paper for Christenings or other religious type cards, and I only have a teeny bit left. Worst thing is that i have no idea which company made it. Its really like a vellum with a silver foil print, so i had to mount it onto cardstock first to make it nice and sturdy.

Thanks for stopping by.
