Scrapbooking

Hi there

Sorry for the hiatus, we’ve had family visiting, and although we all had a fabuloso time, i’ve not been near my computer for a week. Refreshing in a way, but i have to admit the prospect of opening my emails was a little daunting this evening.

Today, another scrapbook layout!…

Last week i shared a layout about my first week as a new mum, and explained that i documented little snippets of life throughout the first month so that i would never forget these first few weeks of our new life.

I’ve got Week 2 to share with you today. By the way, i didn’t scrap these weeks in order. I printed out the 4 sets of photos and then grabbed which ever one was more appealing or inspiring. I seem to get more milage that way, in fact, i don’t think i have ever scrapped chronologically – it just seems like another unnecessary limitation in my eyes. So i started with week 4, then moved onto week 1, then week 2 and then week 3 to finish. By the time I had done week 4 and 1, I decided that week 2 should have a different style, a different ‘feel’. I still wanted to use quite bright colours, but this time decided to limit the colour palate, and also i chose to distress some edges to create a more grungy look.

I had quite a lot to say for this week, so i wasn’t able to squeeze everything in by using my typewriter { 🙁 } or indeed by writing it myself so i printed the journaling instead.

Oh, and i think i love using the enamel accents to make the bullet points – how cute and easy!!

Thanks for looking, another two more layouts to come soon.

The First Mummy Month: Week 1

The biggest change in my life so far? Becoming a mummy. Most definitely, and perhaps some of you consider this to be amongst the biggest life changing events in your lives. But truth is, you spend nine months waiting, planning, expecting, setting up dreams and hopes, and then WHAM! everything moves a million miles a minute. Late night feeds mean restless nights, tired eyes and fuzzy heads, suddenly everyday things need more planning, routines are changed and in honesty you really don’t know whether you are coming or going!

And yet everyone tells you to relax and enjoy the first few weeks. But it’s hard. Your senses are heightened, you are so very sore (after all you’ve just produced a human being from your bits!), the parental-worry gene has been activated within your brain, and everything is so…New… Different… Overwhelming…. Exciting… Amazing, Jaw droppingly amazing.

I made myself a promise. I DO want to remember these first few weeks. When bambino was so tiny and wrinkly. When life is moving at such a fast pace that you can’t keep up with yourself in the present, perhaps I could do a better job by looking back and remembering retrospectively.

So I had a notebook. Nothing special, just an ordinary notebook that lived in our living room. Every day that we received a gift, i jotted down the sender so that one day i could eventually send thank you notes. I grabbed my notebook when i was feeling something, and wrote in it.

One of the things that i am so glad i did was to write down a few short notes each week in regards to me and in regards to baby P.

Each week i would take stock of events, thoughts or any other general stuff that was going on, and of course my camera was never too far away either.

It’s only now that I have had a chance to scrap these notes, and today I want to show you my layout about week 1 as a Mommmy. I’ll be sharing weeks two, three and four soon too.

Thanks for stopping by and i hope you’ll come back to see the other three layouts about my first month as a mommy.

Hey gang, I’m pooped. It has been a busy week. We visited loads of nurseries, Piper had her third set of injections on Thursday, we had fun at baby days group, and on Friday, I went to WORK! EEEK! Just one day, a Keeping In Touch day, and although it was difficult being away from bambino for a whole day, it was really nice to spend the day with adults and to catch up with friends and clients. And today we’ve been busy in the garden. My brother Roger, SIL Shelly and my two gorgeous nephews Josh & Lewis are visiting this week, so that has been motivation to finally do what we need to do. It looks good so far, hopefully we’ll get it finished tomorrow. We even dug up the potatoes out of the veg patch!

Spuds

How awesome is that! NOM NOM NOM! And to reward ourselves for a hard days work…a dip in the hot tub! Ahhhhh…devine! (except i thought that the noise of the jets was super loud so i started singing in there, and apparently the hot tub wasn’t THAT noisy afterall, and Craig only decided to tell me after i got out! whoops! heehee) Today i wanted to share a layout from earlier this week. It was one of those days when my desk was messy, covered in scraps from other projects. Usually I don’t feel motivated when my craft desk is like that, but for some reason i was feeling the mojo. So i just threw this together… journaling reads: Me & You, My little squish so tiny & wrinkly sleepy & cuddly i’m gonna love loving you. And some up close pics sometimes i just love scraps! happy weekend. xx
