Scrapbooking

Hey everyone, Happy New Year! I hope that 2011 holds lots of wonderful things in store for you and your loved ones. It blows my mind to think that i’m having a baby this year! All of a sudden this all feels VERY real and very close! I start maternity leave on 14th February, and already i’m seeing Valentines cards dominate the blogosphere, so I guess the final countdown has already started! (eeeek!) ♥

A week or two ago, I offered up a copy of Scrapbook Trends For the Home Inspiration book to one lucky reader. I’m sure you had all thought I had forgotten about it! heehee! But, not so – i was just waiting until the New Year to announce a winner. So here goes: Start stalking your mailbox LINDA as you are the lucky winner of this book. Please email me on lez (at) hungryheffycrafts.com with your address so i can get this shipped to you. Congratulations, and thank you to everyone who entered.

A New Year, A New Challenge!

For those of you who may not know, I help host the Paperclipping monthly challenges over at the Paperclipping Community page, and now that we have survived holiday season, we are celebrating the New Year with our January challenge! Each month we pick a few topics that have been discussed either in the Paperclipping Roundtable podcasts (a scrapbooking podcast full of great conversation and lots of laughs) or in one of Noell’s fabulous video tutorials (some of these are free, so be sure to check them out by visiting her website) The challenges themselves are all about having fun and finding inspiration, so why don’t you check out the challenge topics for this month and see if you want to join in. The details on how to enter can be found here.

Mission Craft Room continues

Yes, we are another few steps closer!
And every time i think about it, my heart beats faster and faster! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! (*jumps up and down clapping hands and grinning from ear to ear*) ♥

With New Years eve celebrations out of the way and after getting through the inevitable New Years Day full of movies and mooching about, we finally finished putting together the furniture for the craft room. I can’t explain how exciting it was to see the crisp white shelving standing against the wall like a blank canvas, awaiting for me to unleash my creative wrath onto it! In my mind i can already see where certain items are going to live and its very exciting!

I wanted to share a few photos of where we are just now. I was hoping to be further along by now, but there is no point unpacking boxes when there is still drilling and sawing to be done -otherwise every project would be coated with dust and nastiness. ugh! They do say that good things come to those who wait….(i hope they are right!)

I dreamt of these for so long…

My darling scrapbook paper storage unit, the best present ever!

A bookcase to the untrained eye, but i’ll not be using it for books….just wait and see!)

Just a few more bits to do, so we are off to B&Q first thing tomorrow to buy skirting board, roller blinds for the window and doors, wood for my bookcase (a secret project that may or may not work out), some wall plugs for the shelving and rails and then hopefully i’ll be ready to rock and roll! { ♥ sigh ♥}

December Daily '09 Walkthrough

Hiya everyone,

Only a few more days until it’s December!! eeeeeek! I’m so excited.
I’m sure many of you are familiar with Ali Edward‘s annual Christmas feature called December Daily, where she makes a mini book which documents the last month of the year and captures memories of this magical time. Last year I decided to join in the fun, and I embarked upon the wondrous adventure of making my own December Daily album.

I have to say that it wasn’t all easy; some days it was a struggle, after all this month is usually jam packed on the calendar. But on the most part, I found that project was fantastic. I decided to make a mini book which had lots of character, so lots of my pages are different sizes, and I was so thrilled with the end result.

With being pregnant plus buying a house, packing and moving all within the next week or so, I haven’t had a chance to prepare for a December Daily album this year, but I’m thinking that I will still journal the days and maybe I’ll revisit the idea when we are in the new house.

So I thought you might like to see the finished album from last year, and if you are going to take part in this years December Daily project, maybe you will get a few ideas for your own mini book. Enjoy the video!

Whats going on in the land of Lesley?

LOTS!! Life is going a million miles a minute just now. It’s so very exciting, but also tiring, and i’m sure thats most likely due to the ever increasing bump that i’m carrying around with me. ♥

– Work has been crazy – we repatched the comms room last weekend, and then on Thursday and Friday, I decided to take some time off to recuperate. I definitely needed it! As soon as I got home from work on wednesday I jumped into my PJs and climbed into bed. I sneakily put a duvet underneath us, and a duvet on top, and I was oohhh sooooo snuggly! I think i fell asleep about 9 o ‘clock. It was awesome!

– The agent and conveyancer tells us that they expect that we will be exchanging contracts for our new house early next week! Oh, the thought of being in the new house by Christmas…. :0D

– I tried to make a start on my Christmas shopping. Normally we take a trip back to Ireland before Crimbo, but this year i’ll be too pregnant to fly. So i’ve been cruising the net looking for stuff that I can ship straight to mums house. I have to say, I totally get that online shopping is easy…blah, blah, but it doesn’t fill me with the same excitement that I get from walking around shops, seeing all the wonderful Christmas displays, colours and smells! < sigh! >

– Friday night we went out for a free meal! Ohh yeaaaah! ♥ It was one of those restaurant launches that they offer free meals to people in exchange for feedback on service etc. I had crab rolls for starter and the most amazing gammon and mash for mains. Unfortunately, baby didn’t want to let me eat my dinner! It’s ok though, because we got to have a great night out with Mark and Helen, plus Craig asked the waitress to parcel up my leftovers and we ate them the next day. Nom! We had bread to nibble on with starters, and the oil & vinegar mix looked like a smiley face: We just had to take photo for comedy reasons!

-I’ve reached 23 weeks. Baby is kicking and thumping and having a jolly old time in there. We have discovered that he/she likes jazz music. I had my first night of pregnancy insomnia (ugh) BUT we did purchase a pregnancy pillow (which has now been named Bob), and this has helped loads! I did promise to share my 20 week scan with you – here you go! Everyone is saying he/she looks like a mini-Craig! ♥ It blows my mind to think that there’s a little person growing in there!

– Saturday, we got up super early to travel to the other side of London- all in the name of craftiness! One of my fav online stores (ArtBase Hornchurch) is shutting its bricks and mortar shop, and were selling the scrapbook storage trays. I have been wanting these for ages! These are going to look great in the new craft room in our new house! Thank you ladies for making one of my crafty dreams come true!

– Sunday! What’s better than a Pyjama day?! A Onesie-day! Yip, I have a onesie and it is very snuggly! We watched the last Formula 1 race, and I spent loads of time in the craft room playing – which of course I will share as soon as I get the camera out to take some photos…

…but for now, a Scrapbook sneak peek!

I’ve been working on a few scrapbook layouts for issue 52 of Scrapbook Magazine (available to buy in February). I had sooo much fun making this layout, and I love the finished piece: I hope you will too! You’ll have to buy the magazine to see the full layout, but here’s some sneaky peekys to whet your appetite!

Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to leave me a comment, but remember that if you want to enter the November prize giveaway to win up to £100 worth of craft goodies sponsored by Craftwork Cards, you need to go straight to the Nov competition post.
