R is for many things…..

Remembering…

Recalling…

Really Really missing Randolph.

You are all likely familiar with my Miss You Monday posts for my friend Sarah, well, today, I am sending a special Miss You post for her son, my darling Godson Randolph.

Following the excitement of hosting the June Paperclipping Challenge, I actually inspired myself into creating this layout.

Sarah and Rand have been in the USA for several months now, and as the weeks go on, I love getting regular updates on the latest and greatest thing that Rand is doing. Even though it kills me that he is half way round the world and I don’t get to watch him as he learns new tricks. He had just turned two before they went back to America, so he was entering that really lovely phase of learning new things every day, absorbing information from everything in his environment and saying funny things as he tries to interpret the world around him.

I miss the way he walks. The way he is obsessed with Craig and would say his name over and over again.
Our trips to starbucks, where Rand would walk around the seats until he got the one that was ‘just right’. I miss the way he would pull you out of the green chair if he decided that he wanted up there. I miss the way he calls ‘miya’ and then when the kitty came running he would get a little shy. I miss the way his eyes light up when he sees the bean bag, and insists that it is ‘D’dof’s chair’. I even miss the way that he steals your iPhone so he can see the ‘earth’ screensaver like on his daddy’s phone, then is confused when he actually sees a random photo of distress inks or flowers or some other random photo that is my wallpaper of choice.

As I was thinking about all these little specific Randolph things, quite simply the memories were creating an intense sense of sadness in me. But as is always the case – i crafted a little and I felt so much better. They say that crafting is cheaper than therapy, but i reckon its also better for ya! I find it so cathartic. yeaaaaaaahhhh!! Now I can smile at the fact that i’m going to see him again soon, and fall in love with the wee man all over again.

On a different note, I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but it suddently dawned on me a little while ago that i’ve been making more and more cards, and making distinctly less scrapbook pages. To be honest, I cant explain it. It just happened to be a mood thing i guess. But i’ve got good news to share. I’ve been finding that lately i’m getting into the scrapbooking mood more often again!! Yeay!! I am excited about that.♥

For this layout, I didn’t care about matching papers or creating a stunning masterpiece- I simply just wanted to get the page done and tell a story, because I wasn’t crafting for a magazine, or a book, or for any other reason than for myself! But, in fact, I love this page a whole lot!! Ain’t it funny how that just happens sometimes?! Maybe I just love it cos my wee Randolph is on it, but thats ok by me! ♥

Thanks for popping by and listening to me rant, I hope you like the layout, and heres hoping theres loootsss more scrapbooky-mojo to come!

Have a great day!♥

Good morning Ladies and gentle-peeps!

Cuteness Alert!! …. You’ve been warned…

Today I want to share a baby project. My friend from Uni Vanessa had baby Amélie at the start of the month, and unfortunately they are over in Northern Ireland so I haven’t got to see both the girls yet. Through Uni Vanessa was one of those friends that would be there when you needed her, would look after everyone, would make sure that we all cleaned up after ourselves, and kept us all in line: so I have absolutely no doubt that she will be the best mom ever!! Amélie is lucky to have V as a mummy, and I hope she grows up to be as generous, kind and as beautiful as her mummy…but then again, how could she not! ♥

And so of course, I’ve been crafting a little something for the little lady…

First can I say that this was not my original design idea, but was inspired by someone else’s project, but frustratingly, i cant for the life of me figure out where or when I seen it. It was likely on 2peas or scrapbook.com, but despite several attempts to find it, alas, I cannot. If you have seen it, please let me know as I would like to credit the original designer of course.

The frame itself is from Tesco, and cost about £6.99, so it really is not expensive, especially as it is perfect for this kind of project because there is a space of about 10mm between the mount and the glass, which means that I had the creative freedom to use 3d embellishments.

The six squares may look like punches, but i actually just used my ruler width as a guide to cut squares from my scraps {Note to self – really must buy a square punch!}. Top left is plain cardstock, then DCWV adhesive stack, then DCWV text stack. This paper actually had the word mother written all over it, and you can see i’ve cut off a piece that has the start of the word ‘mère’. The bottom row includes paper form DCWV glitter stack, pink cardstock ran embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, and a random piece of pattern paper for the last square.

Background is Swiss Dots Bazzill cardstock. Chipboard star is Heidi Swapp, Charm and silver cord is from MeiFlower. Chipboard A is form Basic Grey stamped with a Hero Arts wood grain rubber stamp. Metal clip is from Making Memories, and mushroom and birdie stickers are from Paperchase. Epoxy bubble is from EK Success, label is stamp from Tampo{maniak}, flowers from Prima and lace from Hobbycrafts. Chipboard tag at the top is Making Memories, with a brown card candy embellishment on top, from craftwork cards. The footprint ribbon is from Anita’s (Do crafts) and the circle underneath is a stamp from the Unity April 2010 KOTM, stamped using ‘Orchid pastel’ chalk ink and cut using a circle punch. Ghost acrylic heart is from Heidi Swapp and the butterflies are from a Martha Stewart punch. Buttons, gems and pearls are from my stash, some of the gems I coloured green using my sharpie markers. The name Amélie I wrote by hand. ♥

I also got the little bundle of joy a cute little outfit with the teeniest little booties you have ever seen!

♥ Amélie, I can’t wait to meet you in person. Welcome to this world, little one. Look after your mummy, and know that you will always be loved, even by those you don’t see every day. ♥ Love, Auntie Lesley. xoxo
