Hey everyone… a bonus video to share with you today. And, for a change, it isn’t a card! 🙂

Last year we ordered a fancy schmancy birthday cake for Piper’s birthday, and although it was pretty and delicious, it was rather pricey. This year, because i was doing waaaaaayy more planning for the party, i decided to simply pick up a store bought cake. After all, there was one that perfectly matched the colour scheme of the party 🙂

but i wanted to spice it up a bit, so i got my crafty hat on and decided to make a personalised cake topper and a custom decorated birthday candle.

Both these items were a huge hit at the party, and the great thing is that they weren’t really difficult to make either! 🙂

For the candle, it was all about glitter glue and buttons! YUMMY!

I even managed to pass the candle on to my friend Alexia for her daughter’s birthday cake the following week – why not, huh?!

And for the cake topper, i used some paper straws mixed with some crochet twine, and stamped some cute images from the SimonSaysStamp Mini Party Animals stamp set, coloured with copics.

Here’s a video tutorial, walking you through how i made these fun items, and below are a few more piccys of the projects and also some from the party.

A huge thank you to my friend Elizabeth for bringing her candle and taking some photos on the big day of the party. I was far to busy scurrying around with a microphone running party games, and making sure that DJ Craig was working hard, and interacting with parents and being chased by little munchkins! It was a great day, and i am very thankful that i have some photos of the occasion. Thanks Elizabeth! xx

Enjoy the video! Still another video this weekend as usual 🙂

Happy Sunday everyone!

I hope you are ready for a little visit to Nostalgia Central, as the card that i have to share today features a super cute CAREBEAR!!

Ever since i picked up the Bear Necessaties stamp set from SimonSaysStamp, i have been planning to make a card with a carebear, and then i realised yesterday that one of the bears has a moon and star on it’s belly and the stamps in the Mama Elephant Unicorns and Rainbows set prettied much matched the design completely! How cool is that?

I used some of the cloudy stamps from this Unicorns and Rainbows stamp set to build up a background on some watercolour cardstock, and used a masking technique to cover these images when i inked the background with distress inks. I purposely kept the colours soft to create a ethereal and whimsical background! I think it turned out super cute!

If you have seen the SSS Bear Necessities stamp, you might realise that this little guys face looks different. Thats because i used a heart stamp from Wplus9 to give him his trademark heart nose, and i added different eyes from a stamp in the Lawn Fawn Critters of the Sea stamp set. I think it made him much more friendly and cheery! aww. cute little bedtime bear!

At the last minute i decided to make this card into a shaker card, and the greeting was a little too big to fit on to the cloud die cut, so instead i stamped the greeting onto some heat proof acetate – i love how it turned out! But i don’t think i could have stamped it so perfectly without the mist – stamping on a slick surface is tricky, especially with versa mark ink – but it all worked out! Maybe it was because i was away for work this week and hadn’t been able to craft much, and so the crafting gods were smiling down upon me! Either that, or i was just plain lucky!! 🙂

Enjoy the video and see you soon.

You're Pawesome! {video}

Hey everyone!

Today’s card is for all you guys – because i kinda think you are all Pawesome!!
( Oh, i do love a good pun! ) <3 I finally got to use one of my new masks that i picked up on my recent order from SimonSaysStamp! I think these falling stars are so cute! and i love the white-on-white effect that you get from using embossing paste! It is such good fun!

Sorry if you can’t understand me in the video. I had just come back from my trip to Northern ireland and my native colloquialisms were sneaking back into my everyday vocabulary! 🙂 and i was super tired after the trip, so i got a little confuddled at one point! LOL. never mind!

I also wanted to mention that i have been doing a little play with watercolouring. I am not sure why, but i have been completely enthralled by the way it looks, especially with whimsical illustrations! i have been binge watching a few illustrators on YouTube and have been giving it a go myself. I will be sharing some on the blog soon, but if you want to take a sneak peek, head on over to my instagram account 🙂 .

for now, though… i will leave you with the video! Enjoy!

Oh, also…. i am working on a video showing how i spiced up some plain store bought items for Piper’s birthday and sprinkled a little HungryHeffy crafty magic on them in order to create not only bespoke one-of-a-kind items, but also it made them waaaaay prettier… —-watch this space — 🙂 Ciao!
