Gold Tipped Feather Card

Hello my little flowers!

Todays card was a result of a Cameo play session.  🙂 i swear the more i play with my silhouette cameo the more i love it. And in fact, the more i play the better i get at using it, so it means that i feel like i am actually getting the results that i want now, which is fab!

I made a cut file which was a scatter of stars and then i ran a piece of acetate through the cameo to create a mask. It was an experiment, and it turned our great. i was really surprised at how easy the acetate cut. Next I used distress inks and the blender tool to pop colour through the mask to create a starry background. I purposefully chose softer colours- i didn’t want the card to appear too pre-schooly.

For the feathers I cut them in white and used the same ink pads to carry the colour into the main focal element. I love doing this, its a great way to create cohesion throughout your project. To add dimension I also used my scoring tool to create a score up through each feather- it resulted in a slight bend upwards as you can see in the photo.

Next up was some sparkle. I cut a thin strip of gold glitter paper and adhered it to the card along with blue washi tape, and then dipped the feathers in glue and gold glitter -just so the tip was a little glittery and sparkly. I think next time I will use glitter embossing powder to get a more even coverage, but this still worked well.  Add a printed greeting, some twine and random Jack Wills button, chomp some corners and i call that done!

Thanks For Your Ray Of Light

A quick card to share today.

I’ve been playing with my silhouette and some acetate to make my own masks- it’s been fun especially with distress inks.
I had an idea for a Thank You card for someone who has offered a little ray of hope to me recently, and the mask worked great for this.
Here it is:

The only other things that I used that aren’t in the photo were some old scenic route labels and a hero arts thank you clear set. It was a quick card but I’m really happy with the outcome, especially as this card is for a guy.

🙂

Hello Everyone

Oh looky here! A VIDEO! whoohoo! Its been ages since I last shared a video with you, lets hope I havent forgotten how to do it!

This is a walk through video, where I talk you through how I have built up this scrapbook page, walk you through some of the decisions I have made and give some tips – its always good to share tips, right?

Inspiration for this layout came in two forms, firstly POLAROIDS, hmm love ’em right now and I was desperate to make some cut files for my silhouette.
And secondly – Jen Gallacher. {I have a not-so-secret scrap crush on this girl!!} I actually feel that her style can be similar to mine at times and she always inspires me. This time I was inspired by this awesome layout.

Jen Gallacher : Memories Made Video #12: Motherhood by the Numbers

You will see that I have taken inspiration from the pennants on the right hand side and also the little flourish of butterflies. Thanks Jen for another inspiring layout! Check our Jen’s Video here.

Enjoy the video and please do leave me a comment if you get a chance. [ Love getting comments- 🙂 ]
