Hey everyone,

Today’s project was fun to make but also a little emotionally painful for me! Okay…Im being over dramatic, but i’m pretty sure i’m allowed to be.

I have always loved tea. I’m irish, and if you have ever been to Ireland or visited an Irish family you will know that you aren’t in your seat for 2 minutes before the kettle is put on and the tea and biscuits come out! And, there seems to be some sort of unspoken social etiquette which means that if you refuse a cup of tea, its almost verging on the height of rudeness! It’s so very true, to the point that I find it very funny!

Nevertheless, tea has always been something that I found great comfort in. It was a little cup of home, warm and inviting, and would never fail to pick me up no matter what time of the day it was. Even whenever we would have a new person start at work, or someone in for training or work experience, the very first thing they learnt would be the most important element of a happy workplace- knowing how everyone liked their tea. I even had the team so well trained that the moment I would arrive through the doors at 8.30am, there would be a cuppa sitting waiting for me, ready to start the day (i guess they all knew how to butter me up!).

But then it happened. As soon as I fell pregnant I was repulsed by tea. I still wanted it, but it did not agree with my body. I guess at the start its your body’s way of irradicating nasties that might affect baby’s development, like caffeine. I actually had to tell them pretty much immediately that i was pregnant because the team noticed very quickly that my cups of tea were never getting drunk.

As the months progressed, I was able to withstand tea again, but with the repercussion of serious indigestion. I have tried decaf tea, fruit tea, rosbos tea… a multitude of varieties, but still after every cup I seem to suffer.

And yet, still, sometimes, I really really want a cup of tea, when I am having a little biscuit or with my breakfast in the morning. I sometimes make a cup of decaf and take about three sips, just so i can have the experience of drinking tea, but then I have to abandon the remainder, feeling defeated every time.

So, making this card was a bitter sweet experience. I couldn’t help but reach for this teacup stamp from my December Unity Stamps Kit of the month, probably an urge stemmed from a mix of nostalgia and self pity. And although I have added the greeting ‘Thinking of you’, i think really, deep down I was thinking about myself, and thinking…{yearning}…for a cup of tea!

Hey everyone,

Less than a month until V day! Do you celebrate it? Will you be posting any mysterious love notes this year?

We don’t normally send each other Valentines cards, but that certainly doesn’t stop me from making them! There’s always someone who asks for one at some stage so it’s handy having a few stashed away.

When I saw this greeting in one of the Unity Stamps kit of the month sets late last year, I thought it was very sweet, and would be perfect for Valentines day cards, anniversary cards and all sorts. It was begging to be used, so how could i refuse?! I teamed it up with some heart stamps from the August KOTM, stamped with chalk ink for a soft look, and then to make the text stand out, I used black embossing powder.

The card really couldn’t be much simpler, but I totally love it.

I hope you like it too
Have a great day

32 weeks

Time for a pregnancy update, me thinks!

I am now 32 weeks. Well, actually, 32 weeks and 5 days. Can you believe it?! Geez!

After we hit the New Year, I became rather overwhelmed with the dreaded feeling of being so very, very under prepared for this baby, especially as people kept sharing stories of people they knew that had their babies at 32 weeks or 34 weeks….

BUT, I am glad to say that this feeling of panic soon passed, because things are progressing quickly…

We have started our antenatal classes, had a tour of the hospital, learnt all about different methods of pain relief and relaxation techniques.

I have read my book that I got for Christmas (Gina Ford: A Contented Baby) and even Craig is making his way through it now.

I have bought a few things for my hospital bag – including a new dressing gown and slippers – hmmmmmm! Craig won’t let me wear them now even though i keep dreaming about the snuggliness they will bring! I love the feeling of new sleepwear!

During a grocery shop we spied really good bargains on nappies, so we capitalised and bought a few boxes…just to have!

We bought a nursing chair from ebay, and picked it up today. It actually really exciting to think that soon I’ll be using that to nurse baby Oman. eeek!

I had a midwife appointment last week, who said that baby is lying in the LOA position – ie: head down, back along my left side, bum at my belly button and feet over by my right ribs. Apparently this is the perfect birthing position and as such according to the midwife we have a ‘Gold Star Baby’. 😀 {proud mama}

I spoke to Mum and I am thrilled to hear that she is booking her flights for a visit! wooo!

My sweet sister has bought me a birthing ball – can’t wait for it to arrive.

Mummy Oman has been buying bits and pieces and so every couple of days I keep receiving mysterious packages at work. It’s so exciting, not just for me, but for everyone to stop what they are doing and crowd round as I open the packages! Thanks Mummy O!

I have zero swelling

I have no stretch marks…(yet?)

I have absolutely no problem sleeping! 😀

and we just have to put one more coat of paint on the accent wall in the nursery.

All in all, I am feeling fit as a fiddle and am just getting more and more excited with every passing day. So much so, I have almost totally forgotten about those 16 weeks of morning sickness at the start!

….almost!

Stop back tomorrow if you get a chance – I have a Valentine’s card to share!
See you then!
xoox
