Helllllloo everyone,

Finally, a project to share! Things have gotten a little slow over here in Pregnant Land, with waddles a-plenty and indigestion galore. Having a significant baby belly means that even little things are a lot more difficult to execute, and because of that, the transformation of my craft room has slowed down quite a bit.{booooo} Which unfortunately means that my crafty projects are not quite as frequent as I would like them to be….however, i am really excited to share a project with you today.

Okay, so i am definitely a paper kinda girl, but amidst the chaos of Christmas, New Year, & boxes galore, something inspired me to take out my sewing machine. To be honest it was probably the fact that my sewing machine was completely self contained, and i knew exactly where my fabric bag was…which is more than what I could say for the 7,243,213,122 boxes containing my crafty supplies.

A little idea had been growing in my brain for a few weeks anyway. One of our friends was due to have a little girl between Christmas and New Year, and I spied on facebook that the nursery had an owl theme. Loving the idea of owlies, I thought it would be a nice idea to buy her an owl plush to celebrate her arrival. After searchig online, and on etsy, I saw a few that were really cute, but I knew i could make one just as cute, if not even cuter! So i took a trip to the fabric store, doodled a few ideas on paper, then sat down to cut, stitch, and play.

And here’s the final product! I think it could be better, perhaps would be cuter if it wasn’t quite as tall, but on the whole I love the fact that this little sleepy owl has its own personality.

I was thrilled that my nesties cut the felt perfectly when i ran it through the cuttlebug – so this is how i made the eyes and i used a quickutz die for the heart on the back. I handcut the letter G, and stitched this on my hand, as with the eyelashes.

To give Little Miss Sleepy Owl a professional finish, I made a tag to compliment my plush gift. Using my wacom I doodled a little replica owl and threw together a tag claiming that this owl was handmade especially for Giorgia-Evie, who arrived safely into the world last week, after much anticipation.

and… I was lucky enough to see the wee angel and give her plush owl to her, and I was so delighted to get a piccy from her mummy Bex. How utterly adorable!

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope this is the start of a lot more crafting again!

Hey everyone, Happy New Year! I hope that 2011 holds lots of wonderful things in store for you and your loved ones. It blows my mind to think that i’m having a baby this year! All of a sudden this all feels VERY real and very close! I start maternity leave on 14th February, and already i’m seeing Valentines cards dominate the blogosphere, so I guess the final countdown has already started! (eeeek!) ♥

A week or two ago, I offered up a copy of Scrapbook Trends For the Home Inspiration book to one lucky reader. I’m sure you had all thought I had forgotten about it! heehee! But, not so – i was just waiting until the New Year to announce a winner. So here goes: Start stalking your mailbox LINDA as you are the lucky winner of this book. Please email me on lez (at) hungryheffycrafts.com with your address so i can get this shipped to you. Congratulations, and thank you to everyone who entered.

A New Year, A New Challenge!

For those of you who may not know, I help host the Paperclipping monthly challenges over at the Paperclipping Community page, and now that we have survived holiday season, we are celebrating the New Year with our January challenge! Each month we pick a few topics that have been discussed either in the Paperclipping Roundtable podcasts (a scrapbooking podcast full of great conversation and lots of laughs) or in one of Noell’s fabulous video tutorials (some of these are free, so be sure to check them out by visiting her website) The challenges themselves are all about having fun and finding inspiration, so why don’t you check out the challenge topics for this month and see if you want to join in. The details on how to enter can be found here.

Mission Craft Room continues

Yes, we are another few steps closer!
And every time i think about it, my heart beats faster and faster! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! (*jumps up and down clapping hands and grinning from ear to ear*) ♥

With New Years eve celebrations out of the way and after getting through the inevitable New Years Day full of movies and mooching about, we finally finished putting together the furniture for the craft room. I can’t explain how exciting it was to see the crisp white shelving standing against the wall like a blank canvas, awaiting for me to unleash my creative wrath onto it! In my mind i can already see where certain items are going to live and its very exciting!

I wanted to share a few photos of where we are just now. I was hoping to be further along by now, but there is no point unpacking boxes when there is still drilling and sawing to be done -otherwise every project would be coated with dust and nastiness. ugh! They do say that good things come to those who wait….(i hope they are right!)

I dreamt of these for so long…

My darling scrapbook paper storage unit, the best present ever!

A bookcase to the untrained eye, but i’ll not be using it for books….just wait and see!)

Just a few more bits to do, so we are off to B&Q first thing tomorrow to buy skirting board, roller blinds for the window and doors, wood for my bookcase (a secret project that may or may not work out), some wall plugs for the shelving and rails and then hopefully i’ll be ready to rock and roll! { ♥ sigh ♥}

30 weeks Pregnant

30 weeks….geez!

Time has flown by so quickly. I can’t believe its 30 weeks already, it only feels a short time ago when we found out that our family was going to be growing.

You are kicking hard, and love to wriggle about especially when I lie down, eat anything, or when the radio comes on in the car on the way to work. You have recently discovered that you can get your feet up by my ribs- this is your new trick this week.

Your taste in music has changed; you used to love jazz music, now you can’t get enough of Cee Lo Green and his song ‘forget you’.

Without fail, when the clock hits 11pm, you roll about, causing bumps and lumps on my belly. You especially like it when daddy talks to you.

I am unbelievably thankful beyond words that someone once told me about Bio Oil. I have now started into my fourth bottle, and I do not have one single stretch mark (as yet). Bio-Oil rocks!

I never ever had indigestion or heartburn before being pregnant, and boy am I making up for lost time. It hurts so bad, and it leaves the most disgusting taste in my mouth. Fingers crossed it goes away once you arrive. I kinda feel bad for all the times I never gave Craig any sympathy when he was suffering from it. darn that karma!

Although people keep telling me that I have a ‘neat bump’, I have to admit that I am feeling huge already. Everything is awkward, more hassle, and definitely takes more energy. Its exhausting. I have caught myself waddling on more than one occasion, but promptly rectified the situation.

My hand automatically migrates to my belly like an invisible magnet: rubbing, patting, caressing or simply resting there. It’s so weird to believe that you are just a inch or two beneath the surface.

I find myself talking to my belly all the time, which to the outside world I imagine it seems like I am talking to myself…but im totally ok with that!

I mourn my inny belly button, whose valley like structure has inverted to create quite a mountain. Every day I pray it goes back in again.

According to iPregnancy you are 40 cm long and weigh 1.3 kilo. Your organs are fully formed and functioning now and it is thought that you have even begun to dream. This totally blows my mind.

Only one more day until the New Year, and only 6 more weeks of work. 2011 is going to change our world forever!
