Hello gang,

We are testing out a new video software this week. Thats good news for you, because you get an extra video tutorial! 😀

Today’s card is a fairly simple design, but I love the texture created by the embossing paste. And doesn’t this bear just look the CUTEST with his little brolly!

A few weeks back I shared a card for the Love From Lizi birthday blog hop, and I used my gelatos to colour the die cut feather shapes. I got LOADS of comments saying how they loved that I showed a way to use gelatos – so i decided to pull them out again for another fun card. Yep – that’s right, I coloured my rain BLUE with my gelatos. It’s quick, it’s simple, IT’S MEGA FUN!

The bear is from Bitty Bears from MFT and I coloured him with my new Zig clean color real brush markers. The greeting is from Hero Arts.

Enjoy the video!

CCWM – Bitty Bears Birthday Card

UPDATED POST – EDITED VIDEO OF THIS PROJECT IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST 🙂

NOTE- Birthday Giveaway Winner announced below!

Hey friends.

This week has been full of curveballs. Firstly I was supposed to be in Orlando giving workshops at The Tim Collins Group show, but with Hurricane Irma on her way, thankfully the show was cancelled. (I really didn’t want to be a tourist in a State where everyone is evacuating!). Such a shame that I didn’t get to host the workshops, but I figured at least it meant I could do a LIVE crafting stream on Friday instead…..

Then…

On Wednesday morning, I turned on my computer and it claimed that there was no hard drive. ARGH! Yeah….so…my hard drive got corrupted and poor Craig had to work on it non stop. We even had to reinstall Windows.

So, it was touch and go for a bit, and we didn’t think we were going to make it, but we did. Woohoo! But… We had lost all our saved settings. Boo!

In short, we had technical issues for Friday’s CCWM show. ARGH! I’m sorry – but please know we are working on it. I am so extremely thankful to everyone who stuck around even though there was less than perfect audio happening.

I haven’t made the video from last night public but here a link if you still want to watch it – even with ‘less than perfect’ audio. https://youtu.be/QOp-lE8-Ays

We are working on maybe putting together an edited version.

Let’s take a look at the card!

I could not resist these bears from MFT. Eeeeek!! So darn cute!  I picked a few bears and coloured them in with my copic markers. I don’t have the dies so I fussy cut them out the ol’ fashioned way!
I inked the background (outside in scalloped rectangle by Lawn Fawn) with dye ink (Audrey blue by SSS and Butter by Lawn Fawn) and stuck the frame on top, before then die cutting the word happy with a Mama Elephant die. I wanted to do an inlaid technique so i could stamp the work Birthday on top of a flat surface. To match the red hearts, I scribbled some copic markers on to some offcuts of card and die cut the Hello again, ready to inlay. I put some Stick It adhesive onto the card base to help me cover this whole area behind the die cut with adhesive.

Next I wanted to stamp the word birthday which is from a Woodware stamp set. I used my embossing buddy, stamped with versafine ink and then used my memento black marker to add some ink along the cut lines – then embossed with glossy clear embossing powder.

You can still see the edges where the inlay is happening, but it looks fun i think.

These bears are the freaking cutest!

To finish off, I added a few extra stamped and coloured images such as the hearts and the cupcakes, and I also added a present from the MFT Beast Friends stamp set. It coordinated so beautifully with the present in this set.

I used my copic markers to colour some clear gems and VOILA! C’est fini!

Oh.. on the inside I added a message from the MFT Forest Friends stamp set – ‘Sending you a birthday bear hug’ which I thought was the perfect accompaniment to this card!

Right, time to announce the winner of my birthday giveaway post over on IG! Congratulations @smilecards44 YOU WON! WOOHOO!

Please use the Contact Me page of my blog to send me your address and your prize will soon be on it’s merry way to you. xx

HAPPY CRAFTING!

Lizi has got loads of prizes lined up (visit her blog for the full list) but the GRAND prize is a FULL YEARS subscription to the Love From Lizi monthly card kit!! Talk about the gift that keeps on giving! It is worth over $550 in value, and not only to you get the kit, but you also get to join the Love From Lizi group and get so much inspiration from the whole gang.

All you need to do is LIKE and COMMENT on the YouTube videos that are part of the video hop. Entries are open until 18th September and the winner will be announced in Lizi’s video on 19th September where she showcases the kit for October. and yes – it is open worldwide! YAY!

So let’s take a look at some photos of the card that I have made.

Lizi sent us a gorgeous Sizzix die in the shape of a peacock feather – after all, a peacock feather is her logo, so it was the perfect choice really! I decided that I would reach for my Faber Castell gelatos for today’s project, because I hadn’t used them in so long, and i fancied making something a bit more artsy fartsy.

I cut 5 feathers from watercolour cardstock, and then squiggled the gelato on top. I decided to go for bright colours like yellow, orange and pink – I guess I am not quite ready to let go of summer! 🙂

I used a wet paintbrush to blend the colours together, but i wasn’t being fussy – I went quick and let the artistic freedom flow. I wanted to make each one a bit different, so i trimmed them down to a slightly smaller size and gave them a little variation. I used gold embossing powder and some black washi tape to add some extra touches to my feathers.

I decided to go with the flow and add some splatters to my 5.5″ x 4″ background using black watercolour paint, and then added a strip of black card and strip of gold embossed card on the edge. I also added some black dotty washi tape to the folded notecard.

Before sticking my top panel in place, I stuck down the feathers with a glue gun. I guess i was channelling my inner Wilna Furstenburg. I kinda liked being free and easy and going with the flow.

I stuck on a piece of folded vellum and a piece of twin, before adhering the top panel to my notecard with some foam tape. To finish the card, I added a die cut HELLO from Honey Bee Stamps, cut from black craft foam, and a few black pearl embellishments.

All done!

Don’t forget to check out the next person on the list, and leave a like and a comment on the YouTube video for each project in the video blog hop.

Good Luck!
