Teacher Thank You Cards – The Big Apple!

Todays Thank You card for teachers is so very simple, and a fantastic way to use up some scraps.

To make the base of this card, I stamped a woodgrain stamp from Heroarts using walnut stain distress ink. Next, to create some faux stitching i placed the card on a foam mat and used a paper piercer to push holes through the paper to create a border. When I had holes all around the four edges, I used a marker pen and a ruler to draw lines between the holes, creating the impression of stitching. This is a great way of adding a little extra to a project – it is simple and looks fab!

The red paper is from my scrap stash, and is from a DCWV stack. I loved the bright colour, and the way the pattern added a little bit of interest. I simply cut this into an apple shape by sketching in pencil on the reverse before cutting it out. I used Fired Brick distress ink and a foam applicator to ink the edges, this gives the impression of a shadow around the edge, making the apple look rounder. Next, to add real dimension, I pulled a pencil underneath it to curl the paper over, then stuck this to the card using foam squares. I actually built up two layers of foam pads in the middle of the apple, but just one around the edge, once again this gives a 3D impression to the focal image.

The leaf and stalk – yip, you guessed it, raided from the scrap stash, green paper is from MME Bloom and Grow and the brown is DCWV adhesive stack – once again folded or curled to add shape, rather than just sticking these down flat onto the paper. I found a little tag, and stamped it with a stamp from this Heroarts Classic messages stamp set – i love how dinky they are, but they always come out crystal clear!

So there you have it. Todays Teacher Thank You card, as part of Hungry Heffy Crafts Teacher Appreciation week. Simple. Bold. and certainly makes an impact!
