A wise person once defined boy as ‘a word with dirt on it’. This is very true for most little boys, especially when I think of my nephews and the many times I have had to attempt to clean underneath their fingernails. When it came to designing the page about this particular home, the defining feature of this house was that it was my first experience of living with boys, with no other female support. For some ‘unknown’ reason this quote came to mind, and so I picked a more masculine, dirty brown shades for this page. I also used a sanding block to distress the edges of the paper and the chipboard arrow shape which is from Bisous. All in all a simple design, but this draws attention to the embellishments even more so. And the colours work well together too.
Journaling reads:
When I eventually plucked up enough courage to talk to my Mum, I was thrilled that I was allowed to stay with you over the Summer of 2002. My first insight of living with boys full time. Toilet seats up, dirty dishes, late night gaming sessions, food fights, and beer towers. But there were good memories too! Playing guitar in your room, late night chats, Counting Crows & Dire Straits CDs, your paradise mug!
