I can’t believe it. I just simply cannot comprehend it!
Craig was away for a few days visiting our good friend Clive (an avid fan of hungryheffycrafts) and during his trip he gave me a call from the craft shop I used to work in. I was secretly hoping that he would bring me back a gift – maybe a rubber stamp, or a packet of stickers, or some adirondack paint dabbers that I’ve been dying to get my hands on. If I was really good, maybe he’d bring be back some ribbon! I assure you, I am being completely sincere when I say that the promise of these types of gifts make me fill with excitement, even more so than the prospect of a new item of clothing, or a new pair of shoes (like a normal girl perhaps).
Imagine my surprise when he hands me a bag with a significantly large box inside (larger than the rubber stamp/ sticker packet size I was perhaps expecting). I pull apart the handles of the bag, only to expose my one wish come true.
Only hours before I was in PC World drooling over the Nikon D60 SLR. For many many months I have dreamt, hoped, and wished for this day to arrive. Counting my pennies, studying the pay cheques, and thinking of ways to convince myself that it was justifiable to spend that much money on me. Well, after the initial shock – there were a few tears of joy to say the least, and Craig took much pleasure watching me be overwhelmed by the shock and relished in the wave of gratitude as I waited on him hand and foot with cups of tea, dinner and chocolate treats.
I reckon he’s gonna try to milk this one as long as he can. Even this evening when I returned from a hard days work to find that he hadn’t even risen from his pit, just as I was about to challenge him, I was greeted by a cheeky smile, a twinkly eye and in the softest voice I heard “Remember when I bought you your SLR?”
