Twooo-whit-twoooo-wooooooo

That’s owl speak for hey everyone!

Today’s project is this cute owl card. It was for a sweet girl who came to do work experience with us during the summer. We really do miss her loads, she was awesome!

This was one of my first chances to play with some new supplies that i got back from the USA when hubby was over there. I stocked up on 6×6 paper pads and here i’ve made papers from 3 different collections work well together. I am loving this colour combo, i think it looks really fresh!

To make the body of the owl I made myself a handcut template using printer paper, folded in half to ensure our friend here would turn out symmetrical. Once I had cut out his body from the yellow printed paper, I cut into the template so i had a belly shape which I made from the blue stripy paper.

His eyes are made using spellbinders dies, a couple of different circle type ones layered up with buttons on top – three in fact, pink, white and black, all three are buttons from my stash.

For his feet i cut short, narrow strips of brown cardstock and rounded off the edges, then stuck three beside each other to create little claws gripping onto a branch.

The greeting is from one of my all time favourite stamp sets from Personal Impressions (They are so darn versatile! love ’em!), and the scalloped circle is a non-branded clear stamp from a local craft shop, stamped with Distress ink. I also used the ink blending tool to add a little blue colour to the outer edge of mister owl.

I am also loving these veneer hearts from Studio Calico. I am using them on lots of projects just now. They add the perfect finishing touch.

Look who came to check out mister owl and give him a nudge of approval. Aww, look at those pretty little furry toes. ♥

{p.s. no MANday Monday tomorrow. Weekend crafting was cancelled due to an unscheduled hospital visit. Nothing serious thankfully}

Just look at this allymagator!  My friend Lindsey gave me a bag of unused craft supplies that she bought in the states and hiding in that stash was a pack of stickers was this lil’ guy. He’s here today holding a balloon to say happy birthday to my adorable nephew Josh!

Happy Birthday Joshua! I can’t believe you are 6 already! Where has the time gone to? I remember planning a trip back to Northern Ireland so I could be there for your birth, but you had other ideas and stayed in mummy’s belly for longer. I remember the first time i held you in my arms. I remember blowing raspberries on your belly and making you laugh. I remember you being at our wedding, and even though you were barely walking you gave us two cute little bears. Now you’re going into Primary 2! Such a big little dude!

Lindsey gave me the letter stickers too. They didn’t have a brand name but i wish they did because they are really  cute. They are an excellent size and i love that they are dimensional. The only shame is that there was only one of each letter in the pack so its a little limiting. Here’s a closer look at mister alligator.

Thanks for stopping by for another MANday Monday. x

Note Cards for Granny & Granda

I remember when I was younger that we had a tea towel in the drawer with little drawings all over it. It must have been made at school or Sunday School, where the kids had drawn pictures of themselves. I remember loving it, and here we are years later and it makes sense that i would be drawn to anything like that, as essentially it is a memory keeping tool. Imagine my delight when I arrive at Piper’s nursery one day to find out that they have made personalised tea towels to celebrate the Jubilee this year. The older kids had drawn pictures of themselves, but Piper’s class and younger had footprints and handprints. Its adorable!

I picked one up for the Grandparents as well as Grannys and Grandads love these kinda things (well, i suspect maybe Grannys more than Grandads). So here’s some cards i made to put in the envelope with the present.

The monkey paper is from a DCWV stack called ‘Nana’s Kids’. Its apt really – it is a card for Nana!. lol. I stamped the greetings letter by letter using alpha stamps, but the word Hello is from this clear stamp set from Hero Arts. love this set! Use it all the time!
