Look!
The first week we went to the ‘Baby Days’ meeting, we were able to make a footprint cast using salt dough. I had been wanting to make a footprint cast, and had originally thought about buying polymer clay to do it, and then {surprise, surprise} never got round to doing it. Why didn’t I think of salt dough? Easy peasy!
The ladies at the Baby Days meeting had dough already made up, and even fired it so it was ready for collection the next week. I was soo chuffed!
So this is little Piper’s footsies at 4 weeks and 1 day. I contemplated painting it white with some gesso, but i didn’t want the paint to cover over the texture of the footprint, because all those little creases are far to cute to cover over. I managed to pick up this frame in ikea a few months ago, and by a pure luck, it fits perfectly. This is going onto the nursery wall with some other frames and stuff (…which I will be showing you as soon as I remember to take a photo of them.)
Get yourself into a creative mood and make some salt dough – recipe can be found here.
Have a great day!

WELL, HELLLLOOOOOOO! Oh we have had a lovely long spell of family time over the last week. First Mum and Dad were over from Ireland for a visit at Easter time, and then Craig took those three days off work in between the bank holidays – so all in all he has had a run of about 11 days without work. It has been awesome! And, i totally forgot that Monday is May day bank holiday so we get to keep him for another day! woohoo!
So the question on everyones lips…did you watch the Royal Wedding? We caught a few glimpses on the tv, but the main excitement for me was the Street Party that we had organised with fellow neighbours. It was pretty amazing how everyone chips in and works together to create a great sense of community and camaraderie. I’m afraid I don’t have any photos because I made the conscious decision to enjoy the event and basque in the experience, rather than run around with a camera attached to my face. We had an amazing time! But there were plenty of others out there with camera, and now that everyone knows each other, i’m sure we’ll be able to get a copy of some piccys.
But hey, lets share a project! This is a super simple card made for my cousin Hayley & Glenn on the birth of their baby boy Jack. It was made a few weeks ago when he was born, but it just goes to prove that you don’t need to do something complicated to make a cute card!
The papers are so darn cute. I picked them up at the NEC in November, and of course had to buy a pink sheet and a blue sheet – just to cover all bases! The greeting is from a Personal Impressions clear stamp set and the frame is a Heidi Swapp journaling stamp.
It was the inside that i enjoyed making the most – because i mixed and matched loads of stamps. The bear is from Papermania, the circle frame from Scenic Route, and the heart from Gaia. The word ‘welcome’ is from Personal Impressions and the name Jack I stamped using a Studio G alpha set. Over on the other side, the congratulations is also from Papermania and the little hearts are from Hero Arts. Wooooo – stamp happy!
have a great weekend!

Its crazy how many different people come and go throughout our lives. Some will make a lasting impression, others will be mere acquaintances. Some will always be remembered, others will be best forgotten.
On Tuesday, our friend Lindsey went back to the States. She and her family have been here for over a year, and although I could probably count the number of times that we met up on my fingers and toes, she is one of those loveable people that you cant not love. So kindhearted, and generous. Super generous. And talented. She took photos of me at 39 weeks pregnant, and also of Piper in her first week, and spent a whole lotta time working the photos to be just perfect. What more can someone give than their time? And with two babies under the age of 2, I know that Lindsey’s time must have been precious.
And so its sad to think that we will not see Lindsey at the next girlies night, or hear her sweet laugh, or the way she says “gotcha” when she understands something that you say, but y’know what… I am thankful for things like facebook. With facebook i will still get to check in, still get to see her boys grow, and still get to see her wonderful photography work. And above all, she won’t be forgotten.
This card, is for Lindsey. We will definitely miss having you over here in the UK.
The butterfly is a Heidi Swapp Sheer, and the stamps are from Hero Arts. Not sure who makes the brad as it had been lurking in my stash for ages. And of course, the ink is Ranger Distress inks (what else?!) 🙂
